I think he's gone as far as he's going to now though, last 8 is a brilliant achievement though, with the standard he's at .
BDO are better than PDC at plenty of things. They have the history of the Lakeside for tradition over many decades rather than the more recently PDC version that's already had two different venues and maybe a third soon (Hearn thinking of moving the worlds to a bigger part of Ally Pally). Better fans too. Much better the BDO fans who go and actually respect the players and want to watch the darts. PDC crowds boo, chant same old crap all the time and are just there for a piss up. BDO have a better grassroots system for bringing players through. I don't think PDC have a guy in their top 10 who didn't start in the BDO. BDO are more unpredictable too as it's harder to pick a tournament winner because the standard of alot of players is very similar. You never get a shock PDC title winner but over the years alot of guys have won the BDO one as an unknown. One of the only things PDC has over the BDO is better prize money due to more events being televised.
PDC is head and shoulders above BDO, BDO is just a modern apprenticeship for players to see if they would be able to hold their own in a competitive environment, the main reasons they start on the BDO as opposed to PDC is because it's cheaper and easier.
The main reason they start in the BDO is because PDC are terrible at producing their own stars. They might have a couple in Keegan Brown and Michael Smith in a couple of years but others like our local lad Joe Cullen haven't pushed on like they were expected to. It's not cheaper in the BDO that's why so many of their guys have day jobs because they can't make a living from it unless you are near the top of the rankings. Not sure about easier either look at the Daryl Fitton match yesterday with both averaging late 90s in only a second round match. Apart from the odd match (Wade vs Bunting only because he had a fake ranking) the PDC championship didn't get good until their extra third round that they don't have at Lakeside.
It's costs more to enter competitions in the PDC so it is cheaper to play on the BDO not only in entrance fees but also the fact they don't play half as many competitions as the PDC as for it not being easier don't talk silly I could pick 6 players outside top 16 that would make quarters on BDO easy Robbie Green is favourite to win BDO worlds go have a look at his PDC record it's laughable
Robbie Green will do alright this year back in the PDC. I can see him having a solid first year like Kist did. Nothing like the first year Bunting has had though.
Great guy. I have been following his progress while I live over in Yank Land. I am a Thurnscoe lad too. Its nice to see the village getting good press for a change. My good mate is with him too, giving him all the messages of support. Go on Doggy
Just been on (I'll not spoil the score). Donned his silk shirt with a Toby badge. Post interview finished it off with a 'yooooo reds'! Top lad
Cracking standard in that match, especially by BDO standards. Going to be interesting to see how many BDO guys try the PDC Qualifying school in a few weeks time. Robbie Green is and yesterday their number 1 James Wilson from Huddersfield announced he was leaving too. Some of the Dutch guys like Jan Dekker are expected to follow.
