Why am i not surprised with the reaction of Keef and the fans to the fee for Vaz Te

    Here we go again !!!
Its about time the directors of Barnsley understood the REAL value of the players they have got.

Example - Tonge was sold by the Blunts for £2 MILLION.........is Tonge about 7 times the player that Vaz Te is?
In fact is Tonge at all better than Vaz Te ??? !!!..........i would say no.

It seems we have diectors at Barnsley that know a good football manager when they see one but they have no sense of value when it comes to our own players

How many times do you hear locals that would like to follow Barnsley FC saying this - i would watch Barnsley but when they get a decent player they always give them away for next to nowt

If it is true that Vaz Te has been given away then this is a tragady for the club - on top of all the other bad business transactions that have taken place at the club over the last few years including - Shackell, Howard, Hammill.

I'm not bothered who we sell.........as long as we get the going rate for them........but we never seem to and this seems to suggest that other clubs are dumping on us

It's a simple matter of 500k (or whatever the fee was) or nothing. You can't blame the board for that. Of course we all believe him to be worth more, but surely it's better to get something rather than nothing?

How long did Tonge have left on his contract compared to Vaz Te?

You can't compare Tounge with Vaz Te.

Tounge was sold 4 years ago for £2 mill when his career was at it's peak - It then took a nosedive and only managed 5 games in the last 12+ months.

Vaz Te came to use for Free in July 2011 (6-7 months ago) with his career at the bottom. Hill's reserected that and has been forced to sell as Vaz Te wouldn't enter into talks on extending his contract, therefore he's been sold on for a healthy profit.

Similar to Adam Hammil, would Vaz Te have signed for us on any more than a 12 month contract, or likewise was the gamble by BFC worth the extra risk if he'd turned out poor.

Lets hope that Hill does for Tounge what he did for Vaz Te and we end up with a good (cheap / profitable) player.

I have never heard that given as a reason for not watching BFC. You're making stuff up.

Was Tonge out of contract in the Summer?

Had Tonge only had 4 good months in his whole career?

Did Tonge go to a Premiership club?

    Some reight muppets on 'ere.

Quite a number of items in poundland are actually overpriced and can be obtained for under a pound elsewhere.

Say we've got 500k for Vaz Te

For one, it's 500k more than we'd get in June for him when he eventually left.

There aren't many players who leave for millions of pounds in the final few months of their contract, unless they're premier league players. Rotherham valued Le Fondre at £5million, turned £2million down for him and then let him go for a few hundred thousand when his contract was running down. That's just how it is, AT EVERY FOOTBALL CLUB, not just ours. Wasn't Hammill in the last 6 months of his contract? Shackell only had a year left.

It's not BFC being daft, it's agents being greedy, and the fact that loyalty is almost non existent in football these days.

Shackell had a three year contract and was one year into it, no-one can argue they pulled Dons pants down with that one.

We got a million for him didn't we? Not far off a fair price. He weren't that good.

That's true. There are loads of disgruntled fans out there peeved we continue to let our better players go on the cheap like Howard, Hammill, Shackell and now Vaz Te. They don't see the point in spending hundreds of pounds a year supporting a club who have to operate this way and wonder how pro active we've been over the years in bringing in investment or if we've just sat about hoping some Arab or Russian is going to come calling.

Catch 22 then. If the stay aways turned up we might not have to sell players. Let's just blame the club though.

hammil, on bench most times in premiership, championship player at best. he was the one wanting to go.
vaz te, didn't want to be at barnsley. possibly half a mill good deal for us.

I have. I've heard it given as a reason not to get a season ticket a few times. 'Whats the point? If we start to do well we just sell the best players'

If we were in the relegation places and had a choice of selling Vaz Te..
    1) Would it be better to cash in and sell him now.
    2) Keep him and let him go for nothing at the end of the season hoping we would avoid relegation.

Would we have a different view if we were stuck where Donny are?
