FOLLOWING discussions between Barnsley FC Chairman Mr Gordon Shepherd and Rotherham United FC's Phil Henson today, the Reds have decided to write off all money owed to the Club in relation to Barry Conlon's wages during his loan spell with the Millers.

Barry joined Rotherham United on loan in October 2005 and spent almost three months with the Millmoor side.

Barnsley Football Club will also be sending a cheque to the value of £5000 to Rotherham United FC as a further donation to help with their current problems.

Mr Gordon Shepherd, Barnsley FC Chairman, said: "We are sending a cheque for £5000 to aid Rotherham's appeal at this difficult time. If all 92 professional clubs were to donate a similar amount then the game would raise £460,000 towards Rotherham's million pound target.

"In addition to this I have also spoken with Alan Bloore of the Supporters Trust to organise a bucket collection at Oakwell to raise more money for Rotherham prior to our game with Colchester on February 25, 2006. An invitation has also been extended to supporters of Rotherham United to collect money at Oakwell prior to the Colchester match".

i think the premiership clubs should be obliged to pay lower league clubs their crazy money to even things out slighty, just slightly and leave the rest up to the fans and managers/players. i do think there should be some contribution. well done GS.

    Cracking job GS............

Let's see how long it takes other clubs to follow our lead.

I'm also in total agreement about the bigger clubs helping the so-called lower clubs.

Oh and Mr Abrahmovic? Any spare change for a good cause please?
