is two different clubs at this moment in time.. The football side.. The business side.. And these 2 sides are competing and ripping itself apart at the minute and until they come back together we haven't got a cat in hells chance
Can't say I agree. Hecky would no doubt like better backing and more going off behind the scenes, like other managers before him, but I wouldn't think there is some kind of war between board and playing side. I think Hecky will wish he'd have chosen his words a bit more carefully yesterday. A lot of people have a downer on the club already, but his interview just added to the mood. The season hasn't even kicked off yet and some have written it off beyond doubt.
Strip the robes off Hecky to the bare bones and you will find he bleeds Barnsley ...hes a fan at heart never mind being the gaffer ..so every thing that goes against the grain HURTS Hence the frustration and his outburst at the board... Message to the powers to be....First of all start listening then ...Act on his words .... Tell me you dont feel any different....better still lets applaud the man for wearing his heart on his sleeve and telling it how it is.Honesty straight from the heart ....You cant beat it Well done Paul. Hes one of our own Hes one of our own Paul Heckingbottom hes one of our own
Yesterday was a blessing in disguise, if we'd have narrowly lost then I reckon little would have changed but a 4-0 defeat to a lower league side has that shock factor that was needed. It'll give kick everyone at the club a kick up the arse, players who'll be embarrassed & those who are working to bring new players in.
Hes a man after my own heart ...tell it how it is ..Truth usually hurts ...if other folk cant handle the truth thats their problem ......I admire him for sticking to his principles and for calling a spade a spade. No matter the outcome...he can hold his Head up high
We seem to think that the players just need to buck their ideas up. What if they're just not good enough and 4-0 at Rotherham is a true reflection of where we are.
Unfortunately the history books are littered with the names of managers and players who have publicly criticised their Chair/ Board/ team mates. Most notable are Bassett-Palace, Colin Todd- Derby, Dalglish-Liverpool, Keegan- Newcastle, Pulis - Stoke, Redknapp- Portsmouth, McLeish- Forest, Henning Berg- Blackburn etc. Jaap Stam criticised Fergie and opposition players in his autobiography and promptly left Man Utd to join Lazio and Roy Keane in an infamous piece on MUTV criticised his fellow players and after a bust up with Ferguson was made to realise his position in the Club very quickly, when he left to join Celtic. It's called insubordination and usually ends very badly. A mantra we had at work was " don't take the Director on head to head unless you are 100% confident you can win." You either get your head down and work through your frustrations/difficulties or if you can't change things leave for pastures new. If you can't bite your tongue and criticise your Owner/ Chair/ Board in public , you shouldn't be at all surprised that when everybody chips out you're left holding double six.!
Problem is if they do Hecky like they did Robins are us fans going to put up with it again . Considering this time there has been an unprecedented fire sale of quality players that is unknown in my lifetime . I am not being negative (as others have called me before ) just being realistic . I am so frustrated that I could kick the cat . Please note , I don't own a cat , but you know wot I mean . So come on guys , avalanche me with your criticisms . Bring it on ......
