So there will be nowhere in Barnsley to buy music. Sad day.

I thought Wellingborough had shut down years ago after being over run with Scrotes.

No, like all the god-awful towns in this neck of the woods they're still throwing money at it in the hope that it'll somehow be reborn as a vibrant, safe and stimulating place to live and work.

To be fair to it and its ilk, though, like they say about Governments people get the town centres they deserve. If we want to do a large amount of our shopping online and out of town for convenience and to save a couple of quid then we shouldn't be surprised when bricks and mortar shop owners fail to maintain the standards on offer on the high street.

I hate to see people lose their jobs, but as a firm I won't miss HMV. It went from being an established brand with pedigree to a high street bully crushing independent and specialist shops.

Me - "Excuse me, but do you have any Yo La Tengo or Royal Trux?"
HMV - "No sorry, this is a record shop."

    Indeed.

Going to see Yo La Tengo at the Barbican in March. Last time I saw them they were just brilliant. Really looking forward to it.
