If we manage to get out of relegation again..............then are we really going to be looking forward to a season like all the other seasons while we have been back in this division........i.e. struggling in the bottom 6

If we do get relegated...........then we are playing lower league teams such as Carlisle, Sheff United, Port Vale, Stevenage........i.e. ale house football

Unless there is a new owner or new investment in Barnsley Football Club then no matter what happens at the end of this season we still haven't got much to look forward to next season

Well this is what i think. We stay up. Danny gets to spend a bit more money looking for championship quality. and look for finishing 6-7 places of where we usually are.
Or we get multi investors who each chuck in 5mil and we buy from German,Spanish,French and other leagues producing young talents.

I know exactly what you mean. Of course, for the club's sake I badly hope we stay up. But on a personal level, I am not sure whether I would be expecting to enjoy it more next season if we went down. All I want is a couple of beers on a saturday and then enjoy a match, with a realistic expectation that we just might win.

Last year it went to the wire and Peterborough lost out. I am willing to bet their fans have enjoyed this season more than we have.

We could of course do down and still be **** next season, double whammy. It's not unrealistic though to expect that we may win many more games if we went down.

Eventually, especially at Football League level, the game's going to implode.

If (big if, I know) FFP is enforced then the league will be a more level playing field, even if it isn't, clubs such as QPR, Bolton, Forest, Leeds etc, etc will eventually go to the wall, which will force the FA and FL to end the madness.

The trick is, for us to be as high in the pyramid as is possible when it happens...and it won't be long.

No debate for me. Maintain our Championship status.

I fear the worst if we go down. I really do.

How we finished last season I genuinely thought we had a chance of top 10 maybe top 6 if we could bring in one or two class players...........but here we are again.

The fans are drifting away because we have been stuck in the same rut now for years - but I cannot see them coming back to watch Barnsley play in the ale house league against ale house clubs; no matter how well we play in that league

    Are fans drifting away?

I don't see that at all. Our attendances this season have been good, and our away support as been particularly impressive.

This is how I see things as well.

Clubs like QPR can't keep going as they are with the debts they have, you look at a club like Fulham who don't have a big fan base but have a big wage bill so if they come down & can't get back up whilst receiving parachute payments then they too will be up **** creek & there's many in the same boat

I would guess at 2 to 4 thou have gone since we came back up to the Championship - fans are tired of being in the same down trodden position year in year out

That's not what I am seeing or hearing, but for one or two exceptions. But literally one or two only.

I lost my Dad in December as people on here may remember, the last couple of weeks of his life i spent a lot of time talking to him about the Reds, about all the memories we had, from portsmouth on a new years day, to southampton on a night match, from the noise at Anfield to how the tea tasted at Norwich when i was 12 yr old.(it tasted like flour by the way ) i took my lad to Charlton last night first time i had gone on a coach to watch the Reds, on the way down i said to him would you swap all your memories of watching Barnsley for us to win tonight and to stay up , ? he is 14 been watching us for 9 years, been to wembley cardiff anfield etc, He said no way ! thats what we go for, to make memories , to talk about when we are older. win lose or draw we will both be watching the Reds next season, with a snuff box full of my Dads ashes in my pocket, if we lose a few fans on the way then so be it, they will come back when we are winning again, if fans are tired because its the same down trodden path year in year out, thats upto them but i reckon there will be plenty of Reds fans with the same outlook as me and my lad, (and my dad bless him)

I think we as Barnsley fans see us as a second flight club, based on the fact we have spent more years in the second than any club.

It is a fairly high expectation given the town has lost thousands of well paid skilled jobs over the last 30 years.

That said there's a lot of teams with higher expectations below us.

personally I think it's over played this thing that we can't compete at this level, just think how many points we have chucked away through sheer carelessness

by either conceding stupid goal or not finished a team off by missing an easy chance. Surely the very fact that we were in the position to chuck the points away to start with would indicate we aren't that far off

I don't think that we SHOULD be struggling every year and it has been down to bad management both on and off the field that we have been. Do some research properly before throwing good money after bad on useless loan players who are worse than the players we already have at the club and stop this stupid obsession with relying on loan players in the first place which only means that we have to rebuild our squad every season and more often than not every few months. A loan player might sound cheaper than a signing but when you have to loan 6 or 7 players in one position over the course of a 3 year contract is it really a saving at all?

Stop putting players on contracts that allow them to come here with no intention of ever playing for us but still getting paid despite the fact that on a working day they are in another town filming for their own youtube channel instead of at the training ground. Quite how mido was allowed to sign a contract that let him do that amazes me. How we then had to pay to release him simply astonishes me.

Stop wasting thousands a season by putting the lights on in broad daylight. It might only be 2k it saves over a full season but that is a lot of money.

Turn the bloody TVs on showing sky sports not piss poor pictures of a **** pitch or a black screen. Even if just 10 solitary people dont turn up because of it that is over 5000 quid a season plus the increased revenue from the catering of a lot more people in the ground drinking before games (if we dont get a share it still increases the value of the contract when it is renewed)

Use the space we have. The old club shop still sits empty when it could have been hired out for local businesses to showcase their stuff. Even at a mere 100 quid a game thats another 2k added on.

Give proper advertising for the kit sponsorship. I informed the club several times that other clubs do it differently and by changing what they offer (no extra money required) that I personally could get another 2 companies minimum to sponsor players so thats roughly another 1k just from me.

I've just added 10k to the clubs budget in about 2 minutes. 10k isnt a lot but if we insist on loaning players then I've just paid us to loan a new player for a month at least.

Spend the money we have wisely instead of wasting it and utilise what we have at the club already in the way of players plus maximise revenue streams instead of letting them go to waste and the players we have at the club could be a much higher quality. The reason we have so much **** is simply down to poor decisions by all concerned

In Danny Wilson we finally have a vastly experienced manager who knows the game inside out. Davey, Robins and Hillock & Twitcroft were untried gambles. Lets push on these last 4 'cup finals'!
