Disappointly my wife has just informed me that Joanne Harris, the author of that article, has had nothing good to say about Barnsley since she left.

She said "Barnsley IS a small, parochial town full of bigots."

But then after backlash she backtracked and said " Everything is very different now and those attitudes no longer exist"

This excellent piece of CGI has recreated Eldon St in the 60's....the Library features about 4.00 mins in. Pretty much as I remember it.
It wasn't the only library though...the Co-op had their own on Wellington St.
Sorry no idea why it's asking for a sign in...perhaps copy and paste the link straight into Youtube?

    Fantastic.

Mi Mam used to work in that Woolworths before I was born so we were always visiting it when I was little so she could see her old workmates. If I recall right, the floor used to have a slope in it?

Let’s hope she doesn’t look at some BFC fans posts on X…

I did think the timing was quite ironic

The Woolworths had an escalator built from wood...a thing of beauty... and must have been ancient.
