    Be nice if it could be restored and opened up to the public. I know there is the museum at Wakefield but there should be one in Barnsley. This would be the perfect spot for it.

    Glad its been recognised especially for the significance of the people of our area connected to the industry either directly or indirectly.
    Personally I would like to see a memorial wall or similar around the monument with details of all the disasters and deaths in service from collieries and connected industries from Barnsley and surrounding areas as a sort of central tribute to the great coalfield of Barnsley.
    Complete with visitor information centre.
