Attack victim left with fractured skull

    Friday 1st June 2012
A man from Barnsley was left with a fractured skull after he was assaulted outside a nightclub in Swindon.
The 40-year-old, who has not been named, was visiting friends, when he was attacked with at about 4.30am on Sunday.
He suffered a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain and was taken to Great Western Hospital.
Acting Detective Sergeant Becky Smart, leading the investigation, said it was a 'vicious and prolonged attack.'
"The brutal assault left him with serious injuries and he is still recovering in hospital. It was only due to fast thinking by door staff and some Good Samaritans who gave first aid that this man was not in a more serious condition."

Three men, aged 25, from Wiltshire, have been arrested and bailed.
