But manager Dave Jones is backing him to start getting the goals soon, and at Oakwell tonight the City boss is looking to add a killer touch to his unbeaten side after four consecutive draws. Cardiff are said to have dominated last Saturday's game against Bristol City but it ended 0-0, their second goal-less draw in a row. "Jay Bothroyd had a couple of chances early on and I am sure he will start putting them away very soon," said Jones, by no means downcast over his team's overall performance. "It was an exciting derby match. We played well without finishing off any of the chances we created in the first half, but both defences came out on top. Although we applied a lot of pressure, we were unable to make it count." Cardiff won their first game of the season, 2-1 against Southampton, but have drawn with Doncaster, Norwich, Sheffield United and now Bristol City. Two 2-1 victories, against Bournemouth and MK Dons, have put them into the third round of the Carling Cup. So it has been a successful start to the season for the team who beat Barnsley last season at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals. As well as the threat of Bothroyd, the Reds face a Cardiff star who has been at the centre of controversy: Paul Parry, who quit the Wales camp only 72 hours before a World Cup clash with Russia. Parry, Bothroyd's striker partner, will be looking for his first goal since the affair blew up, sparking a bust-up between Jones and Wales manager John Toshack. Bothroyd said: "Paul's a strong character and what's happened has happened. - but he's the first to say it was bad timing. "But he felt he made the best decision for himself and he's sticking by the decision he has made."
