Just received a blue bin and a brown bin from the Council. Am I right in thinking that the blue is for paper and the brown is for glass?

I know before I had the blue bags and the green crates. Just want to make sure before I put the empties from several beer sessions in the wrong bin.

    Blue is for paper.

Brown is for Glass & Tins.

Should be a sticker underneath the lid telling you what you can/can't put in there.

No they are simply large ice buckets to be used for parties. Brown bin is for beer, Blue bin for lager.

In Newcastle it's: Green for general waste, brown for garden waste, black for recycling.

    Glad to be of help.

Use of recycling bins....depends where you live...the blue ones are used for sniffing while on fire

and so are........... the grey ones......... the brown ones............ and the green ones
Especially if you live in Royston of course

    You ought to try Farnham

The black one without a lid is for glass bottles and jars
The black one with a solid lid is for paper
The black one with a netting lid is for plastic bottles (no lids) and cans

A bit of colour variery would be nice

Our uncle Keith works for the council and he said

the brown one was for brown things, like cardboards, brown leather, brown socks, some wood.

And the blue one was for blue things like rice crispies packets and shampoo bottles

The rest of my coloured rubbish I place in plastic carriers and throw them over the fence.
