Is still not a place the vast majority of professional footballers want to move from unless they are playing non league/several divisions lower eg Bullock Ready for the knackers yard eg Hendie Like pound signs eg Betsy. One of those players turned a move to a club close to being premishiped becase we offered double what they did in order to attract him here. In the region of £3500 a week... Money talks and due to two particualr reasons, BFc are a bit skint. One is called Administration, the second is called our saviour whom put us three hours away from a trip to macclesfield.
I Don't understand what you are saying. Do you mean "move to" regarding the players. If so, I can't see it. As far as living in Barnsley, you can live in Oldham/Hull/Nottingham & Leeds and get to Oakwell comfortably. Also can't work out your last line. Can you explain again. BTW I'm not trying to wind you up.
RE: I Don't understand what you are saying. Simple. Barnsley was and is an unfashionable club. to attract quality proven players the club has always paid over the odds wages as a sweetner. Unless there are other reasons as previously stated. FOr example BFC and SWFC similar league status offer player X a grand a week, 9/10 times he'll go hilsborough as theres a bigger crowd, better reporting of the clubs games thus potential to furthur his career. The facilites only go so far, they dont cover over the cracks. One player we signed cost the club £3500 a week. Twice what he was offered at WBA. Since then the club has gone into administration and was 'saved'. The impression then given off by the people in charge was that of a toilot. looks ok from the outside but still full of **** in the middle. Barnsley were a matter of hours from being forced back into administration and being docked 10 points. That would have sent Barnsley bottom of the league well behind other strugglers playing **** unproductive football. Therefore to avoid a simialr situation the club isnt chucking money about left right and centre. These figures mentioned are from the media NOT from the mouths of those in charge. Too many Barnsley fans suffer from bourgemois? thinking becuase we've been in the premership and because we have an extremely wealthy owner that the club should be signing expensive players on big saleries. They seem to forget that even under John Dennis penny pinching was the norm. Players were often at the very start or towards the end of their playing days plucked from reserve teams for very little, rough diamonds like Bullock or players from obscure clubs no ones heard of. It seems the concensus of the BBs majority if Barnsley go down or they dont spend a zillion pounds signing players from Ac Milan and Chelsea or appointing a manager who hasnt managed more than 10 games they'll not support Barnsley. If thats the case they ought to go **** right off as they are not proper Barnsley fans, they sound like the **** bags from S6. Iain DOwie? half a mill a year and would he keep the club up? Just as much chance as the current manager. If he'd have failed, its half a million the club cannot carry into the next season. That would cripple the club given salary caps are now in place in the lower two leagues. If i was the chairman i'd be wanting young hungry players dashed with expirence for the first team not a squad full of 30+ half fit past it journeymen wanting a last big pay check before they are pensioned off.
RE: I Don't understand what you are saying. Re. last sentence you should say 'at times'. JD brought in experinced managers, bought international players (pre-premiership) viz. Feming and Taggart; and some decent players from 'bigger' clubs e.g. Currie.
Yes, when we'd sold someone for decent money though. Tiler and Aggie used to finance your examples, wasn't it?
decent players from 'bigger' clubs e.g. Currie. Thought he came from Darlington, unless you mean second time around in which case he was on a downward spiral and wasn't anything like the player he was first time.
John Hendrie? Ready for the knackers yard when he signed for us? Couldnt disagree more about a player. He was the player that made all the difference to us that season. Scored and made goals and was bang in form that season. As a player Super Johnny Hendry is a Barnsley Legend and no mistake. If you want to talk about knackers yard players look at Kevin Richardson, Paul Warhurst, Peter Sand, Ian Woan, Stuart Ripley, Kenny Burns, and dare I mention Ronnie Glavin in his second spell at Oakwell?
