Barnsley Sport Ritchie backs red-card DanBARNSLEY boss Andy Ritchie has defended red-card culprit Daniel Nardiello.The striker, who came on for Martin Devaney with 20 minutes to play lasted 15 minutes before being sent off in the 1-0 defeat at Huddersfield. He was booked for kicking the ball away and then yellow-carded again and ordered off for more dissent, having been accused of a foul. It all happened inside a couple of minutes.Ritchie admitted Nardiello swore at referee Mick Fletcher."If you can't say one expletive to the referee, it's a sad day," Ritchie contended.Nardiello will serve a one-match suspension.While Huddersfield climbed to second in the table, Barnsley are outside the play-off places a point behind Oldham who gained a draw at Hartlepool on Friday.Ritchie rated his team's performance at Huddersfield above the result."I'm confident we'll be in the play-offs if we continue to play like that," he said.Barnsley have now gone six games without a win.There are six left to play, starting on Saturday at Oakwell against near neighbours Chesterfield.
