Barnsley to hold Nyatanga talks

Nyatanga has struggled to earn a regular place at Derby this season
Barnsley have been given permission to hold talks with Derby defender Lewin Nyatanga over a possible three-month loan move to Oakwell.
The Wales international has started five games for his country this season - one more than he has for the Rams.

Nyatanga, 18, recently made 11 appearances during a loan spell at Sunderland between October and January.

He will now discuss a potential loan switch to aid the Tykes' battle against relegation from the Championship.

He is under contract with Derby until next summer.

    If as you say...

he is a 'good player' then that would make him better than the current set of average players.

It's on the official site now

BARNSLEY Football Club have agreed a deal to sign Derby County's Welsh sensation Lewin Nyatanga on an emergency loan.

The 6'2" central defender will now travel to Oakwell to discuss the move.

Although just 18-years-old, Nyatanga is one of the hottest properties in Welsh football after making his debut in March 2006. He has already played nine times for his country as well as making 33 first team appearances for Derby County.

Lewin spent two months on loan at Sunderland earlier this season and impressed during his eleven appearances at the Stadium of Light.

    More Soon.

Is this because Kay has been alienated

It all looks to me as if we are hopelessly grasping at straws.

Davey is bringing in a whole new squad when all we needed were 3/4 players and we would have had a good chance of survival.

What a way to treat the current set of players.

I hope this new player comes good for us because we sure as hell need a commanding centre half.

    He's young but he's a superb player!

We've signed a player who's played 9 games for Wales, is a great prospect, is probanby better than anything else we have got and we still complain.

We need good players, not just experience. Not saying that he is the answer but just calling for experience gives us flynn and gibbs. Although what happened to daveys "we just need an attacking midfielder then we have the complete blend" or whatever he said. We have needed a centre half since the start of the season. Its about time. 6'2 is a start, will reserve judgement until I have seen him play, although I hope that doesn't mean the end for kay.

Davey said at the Supporter's Club Meeting that....

He and his team preferred to work with the young players, rather than ones at the end of their careers.

In that respect he is no different to Andy Ritchie

Unless you're called Dale Tonge or Paul Hayes.

Kay has been shocking recently and we desperately need cover in this area. More than an Attacking Midfielder, IMHO.

Think this is a positive move.

    Get real

Morgan won't come back. He's playing for a Premiership club and won't pass up the opportunity of playing more games this season.

If Warnock wants him gone in the summer and we stay up then we have a chance but at the present time bringing in a damn good young defender with international experience is a good move.

This is a positive move, this lad has proved himself on international stage and was on the verge of a 1M move to sunderland not so long ago......will be a good signing imho.

If its enough to keep us up....time will tell.

    Get behind em!
