    Does anyone know what the attendance was for this match? We often hear how we got 34,000 against Man City in the League Cup and 33,000 against Everton in the FA cup, but I have never seen this game mentioned. I would assume it was similar but does anyone actually know??

    Think it was about 31,000. I know it was less than Man City even though as soon as I got into the Ponty I could barely move! Think it was down to number of away fans that came as to why it was smaller attendance.

    I thought it would be around that sort of figure, it's just surprising that it never gets mentioned. I thought the Scousers would have packed the away end out too although I know it was televised.

    As far as I remember

    It was quite low in comparison to the other games you've mentioned. This was probably due to the fact that it was live on ITV and the year long miners' strike had ended earlier in the week. A figure of about 19 000 sticks in my mind.

    I was thinking of the League Cup game. No, the FA Cup game was under 30,000 I think because it was on TV.

    And it was live on ITV. I watched it from the West Stand with my Dad and Ponty and then watched it back on glorious VHS at my mates house.

    19838. It was a live game on ITV. On the Sunday after the 5th round win at Southampton. ITV must have been disappointed that we won.

    I think Gwynn Thomas might be welsh
