Crap defending! Don't think I've seen footage of the goals before and I was stood on the Ponty for the game
With regards to the defending personally i think they were bolloxed. The Liverpool game came only 4 days after that tremendous backs to the wall defensive play in the previous round against Southampton aty the Dell. If my memory serves me correctly we went 2-1 up after about 15 minutes the team then spent the other 75 minutes facing wave after wave of Southampton attacks and defending superbly. IMO tiredness was a major factor in the cr@p defending against Liverpool. The sad thing about the Southampton game was that none of major tv channels had cameras at the game. I have never seen footage from the Southampton game. Does any one know if any footage exists?
Kevin Mcdonald had a cracking game for Liverpool. There was a 6 day gap between the Southampton game and Liverpool game but Liverpool were European Champions then and we've turned them over since.
