Well, guys, big news today is that we've signed Hayden Mullins on loan till the end of the season (from Pompey). Funnily enough, the man is from Reading, but had always somehow fallen through the radar net - but he has a wealth of experience: FA cup final, 2 play-off finals, 500+ first team games in career, plus was Portsmouth's player of the season last year ...

Anyway, thanks for positive comments, and what would be great for us would be to have a few one-liner comments on –

What are the strongest areas of the squad, and how do they click together?
Who should we specially look out for / fear most of your squad Saturday?
How strong do you see the championship this season, compared to other seasons?
Realistically now, where do you hope to finish if all goes well?

    Cheers,
    daib0

    I know it's a good read, I enjoyed it :)

My comment was tongue in cheek at the 'why do we keep signing lower league sh*t' brigade

Our squad has fallen apart, lots of key players out.

Who should we specially look out for / fear most of your squad Saturday?

Young lad in the middle of the park Paul Digby, just signed until 2014, towers above most and takes control.

How strong do you see the championship this season, compared to other seasons?

It's stronger than usual no run away leader, it's anyone's to win.

Realistically now, where do you hope to finish if all goes well?
    All things well-ish 14th, but really 16th/17th.

In the first half of the season we had a dynamic, hard-working and attacking midfield which saw us flirt with the higher echelons of the table and was a joy to watch. Unfortunately this was based on:-

Ricardo Vaz Te - Pacy, dangerous left winger with 11 goals and sold for a song to West Ham in January as he was only on a 1 year contract
Jacob Butterfield - Creative force and scorer of key goals, just forced his way into England U-21 fold before being crippled for the season by dirty Leeds midfielder Brown at Christmas.
Jim O'Brien - Dynamic right winger, non-stop effort and no little skill. Barely seen since Christmas due to injuries.
David Perkins - Hard-working, ball-winning midfielder. Also injured and likely out for season.
Danny Drinkwater - Classy loanee from Man U, good box to box player, good engine and passer. Bought by moneybags Leicester after scoring against them in BFC win there.

As Dodworther says, since losing the entire midfield almost all at once, we have fallen apart.

Sorry about the dog barking, must have been a Reading fan too?!
Mind you, looking back, our second penalty was really soft, a la 'Spanish' - I can understand you guys complaining about that decision ...
