In an attempt to find a ray of light in the mire we find ourselves in facing the new season (playing staff wise were so short of quality), I've come across a video file from our leader. When I tried to open and view I was asked to pay £3.99. Not an extremely pricey sum I know but I've bought into the so called dream once more with a season ticket - why should I pay extra??
Agreed Can never fathom why people expect to get the service for nowt. Granted, there are technical hitches, but overall it is great for people who (like those who live abroad) can't get to matches.
RE: Agreed Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm not wanting it for nowt!!!!! I've paid for the season ticket!!!! If you've not got the season ticket you pay for the service! Simple
Season ticket? Am I missing something? Are you saying that if you buy a BFC season ticket you should get Barnsley World for nothing? Not having a dig, just not sure what you mean.
RE: Season ticket? I paid for Virgin TV, so the local Odeon really ought to let me in for free.............................. shouldn't they?
RE: Season ticket? yes, should come as part of the package. By buying the season ticket you have shown commitment to the team and should be rewarded with up to date information which directly relates to your purchase. This could be offset by an agreement that if you do take this option at the time of renewing or commencing a season ticket purchase you complete some form of advertising questionnaire, which should produce some extra advertisement revenue.
You may have a point But when you bought your ticket, at no point did anyone at the club offer you a free Barnsley World (or Barnsley Player) subscription. A season ticket already gives you up to roughly £7 discount per game so even if you pay extra for Barnsley Player you are still paying less than someone who pays on the gate. Having said all that, you may be on to something. A combined season ticket with Barnsley Player included may not be a bad idea, at an extra cost of course.
RE: You may have a point I understand what he is saying, but can you imagine what people without internet access will be like. "iF they're getting that for free, what will we get"? etc
Or those that don't want it will want summat else. You know what people are like on here
2 much hassel than its worth

Is it me? You don't seem to grasp the fact that Barnsley World/Player is not provided by BFC. They are completely different companies. Most other clubs have a *********World, they are a service provider. Hence my example above. And please, keep bothering, never give up.
Point Taken I meant a season ticket where you pay a bit extra for Barnsley Player, but not as much as a full subscription, so effectively season ticket holders get a discount on Player. Might not work because there is obviously some money going out to a third party somewhere (Premium TV???). I still can't get my head round the principle that if you buy a season ticket which gives you a £7 discount per game, you expect something else in addition. I still think I'm missing something somewhere.
RE: You may have a point Take into consideration the reductions offered to persons paying on the gate over the season when reduced price matches are offered, but yes by purchasing in one go does secure a reduction as well as a seat for the season. The benefit for the club though is in a guaranteed income rather than the fluctuating gates we find. I agree though that if put together in one package there would be a benefit even if a small cost is introduced in the form of a slight season ticket increase. It becomes a new feature to purchasing a season ticket, the persons with the service increase figure wise which increases the selling point to potential investors through advertising.
RE: You may have a point My view is that few people complain about the cost of Barnsley World, instead they complain about the quality (missing commentary, poor audio quality etc). I lived in Germany for 3 years, subscribed to Barnsley World and thought it was great - it allowed me to keep in touch. It costs me about the same as 1.5 matches per year at pay on the gate prices. Just as a point for discussion - if there was no such thing as a season ticket, and everyone was forced to pay on the gate, would the club's gate receipts be more or less than it is now? I reckon it would be considerably more. Just a thought.
With simon davey in charge or any 'bad' manager I think revenue would be significantly lower. How many of those season ticket holders last year would have still been willing to pay £20 or so each week to watch us play negative football if they hadn't already bought their tickets in advance? On the barnsley world thing I think season ticket holders should get it for less because They obviously won't be listening to the commentary for the home games so costs should reflect this to make it more attractive. On another note I wish that a season ticket for things like programmes could be brought out where I pay say £60 now and get a programme every home match. It saves me £9 over the course of the year and the club gets a guarenteed income regardless of whether I decide to go to a match in february or not. Then again why stop there? Season tickets for pies? Pints? The opportunities to make money are there if clubs are willing to look for them. £150 buys you home shirts for the next five seasons. Fan saves £50, club gets £150 which it might not have got because the fan might not like the next kit but now has paid in advance
They already sell season tickets with "add-ons" Well, in a manner of speaking. You already buy a car park season ticket in addition to your match ticket. In the Legends and Club 64 you get a car park and programme included in your ticket, plus free refreshments at half time (not a pie and a pint, just tea/coffee and biscuits!). You can sit outside (if you don't like sitting behind glass) and still be a Legends ticket holder with all the other benefits - if you add up the cost you would be surprised how close it is to what a normal fan pays, including car park, program, refreshments etc. You could include Barnsley World for a bit less if you wanted but it is so cheap anyway it's difficult to discount it by a meaningful amount. Disagree with your first point though. I think most clubs, not just ours, would have a greater income if they did not sell discounted season tickets. Obviously I've no way of proving that one way or the other, it's just my opinion.
