Played in different positions, but Mick Butler & Ian Evans were top number 7's for me.

Aside from Hendrie, I'd say Gordon Owen.

Ian Evans was a class act, but Norman got his numbers all wrong. Evans and Banks were wearing each other's numbers.

    Good shout on Gordon Owen.
Ian Evans always wore number 6 at Crystal Palace and never liked wearing number 5. When he arrived at Barnsley, Mick McCarthy already had the number 6, so Evans chose the number next to it, seven. It didn't bother Banks which number he wore, so he picked up the spare number 5.

Back in the day when players wore 1-11.

A modern day Evans would have gone for 16, 26, 36 etc. When I played, you wanted somewhere between 1 and 11. Otherwise you weren't in the team.

Jim O'Brien is a lot better than folk credit him for.

    Some prefer Cywka though.

In other words, no running about, no control, no crossing ability, but an occasional worldy from the bench that gains no points.

I used to play Sunday league football with Gordon after he retired, top lad, great player. Live near his brother Keith, now he was a very good striker at non league level. I believe Gordy's a + handicap golfer! which is pro level.
