Signed by Keith Hill Alnwick............. Average Golbourne........ Excellent Wiseman...........Good...........but confidence undermined by own supporters McNulty........... Good, but has been out injured and lost confidence since he has come back Cranie........... Good midfielder but not a defender Kennedy ........Good in the matches he has played Dawson.......... Excellent Done .............Average Perkins........ Excellent Cywka..........Average Mellis....... Good Davies..........Excellent Dagnall..............Hard worker but average at this level Harewood......... Hard worker but average at this level Players that have been signed but we haven't seen enough of them, so the jury is still out, are: Silva Mido Etuhu Rooney At a presentation, Simon Davey said that if 50% of the players signed are seen to work out then a manager will consider this a success..........well Hill has done better than 50%. On top of this other younger players are starting to come through that look promising: Noble-Lazarus Rose Stones Digby Clark There seems to have been a good pre-season but then the team was hit by a shed load of injuries with up to ELEVEN players out injured. Some of these players are now back but they still are not up to speed - Davies, McNulty, O'Brien. On top of this our most influential midfielder Perkins has been out injured a couple of times. Keith Hill has then gone back and recruited four more who ALL look good signings Sinclair Tudgay Greening Buzsaky Its been a very roller coaster season.........the only major failing has been the ATTEMPT AND FAILURE TO SIGN A TALL, STRONG, COMMANDING CENTRE BACK All in all we are not far off being a good Championship side........but we are desperate for this centre back. The Barnsley Lemmings need to take a long hard look at the long term building of a team at Barnsley. It seems that if enough people on here says that Keith Hill is rubbish then others just implode and accept that this must be true. And then people wonder why people like Murdoch hang on desperately to the Sun Newspaper.
Alnwick............. Piss Poor Golbourne........ Average Wiseman...........Terrible McNulty........... Sunday league level Cranie........... Average Kennedy ........Not even rated high enough to get in the team when we're leaking goals like the titanic. Dawson.......... Average Done .............Poor Perkins........ Excellent on his own, doesnt really help the team perform better though Cywka..........Average Mellis....... Average Davies..........He scores quite a lot of goals compared to the others Dagnall..............Hard worker but average at this level Harewood......... Lazy and terrible at this level.
In fact if Keith Hill is such a good manager and the players are so good why does a form table of the English premiership, championship, league one, league two, blue square, scottish premiership, scottish division 1, scottish division 2, scottish division 3, spanish primera liga, french division 1, german bundesliga, italian serie A, south african premiership and south african first division (yes readers, that's 15 leagues across 8 countries) look like this? http://www.viewdocsonline.com/document/wgip80
So how long do we give him? Things do not seem to be improving at all, so when is enough, enough? When does he swallow his pride, and get Hassell back into the side? At least Bobby will fight for the cause. As you say, we've needed a centre-back all season, but we still don't have one, despite four loan signings. Our defence is giving away silly goals and we are doing nothing to rectify the problem. I want BFC to be successful and by success I am happy for it to be championship survival. But at this moment in time, I can see nothing but another relegation scrap, and I wonder if this team has the heart to win it.
All good teams have a STRONG SPINE Goalkeeper.....................Steele Centre back....................???????? Central Midfielder.............Perkins (and now Greening) Centre forward................Davies The rest of the team is built around the spine A large part of the Barnsley spine is missing............players like Wiseman, McNulty, Cranie and even Stones would improve if we had a player such as a Darren Moore type stuck in the middle of defence. There is NO ONE in the current team that is marshalling the defence and encouraging the rest of the team
You do realise that Keith Hill is the person who chose not to sign a centre half right? In fact you do realise that Keith Hill has signed plenty of centre halfs who he now refuses to play at centre half don't you?
Fixed that post for you Nudger. Alnwick............. piss poor Golbourne........ average at best, no right foot at all. Wiseman........... he's an ok attacking fullback, poor at marking so lets say poor McNulty........... Poor, always lets the bounce past him instead of heading it. Liability. Cranie........... Good midfielder but not a defender - I'll let you have that one. Kennedy ........average, cant get in this ***** defence, what does that tell you? Dawson.......... Average, puts in a shift but lacks real quality. Done .............Poor Perkins........ Good player despite his limitations Cywka..........Hot n cold, Average Mellis....... Good - Mr 10%, tries 10% of the time, would be decent laiker if he could find a heart. Davies..........Excellent - Deserves a medal for scoring as many as he has, on the shoddy service he gets Dagnall..............Hard worker but poor at this level Harewood......... Non worker, past it at this level Players that have been signed but we haven't seen enough of them, so the jury is still out, are: Silva - Injured and hardly played - i'd rather have RNL. Mido - will never be fit EVER Etuhu - Never be a football player, Oddjob had more skill. Rooney - Pointless signing On top of this other younger players are starting to come through that look promising: Noble-Lazarus - Should be playing every week Rose - Not strong enough Stones - Promising Digby - Perennially injured Clark - not strong enough Keith Hill has then gone back and recruited four more who ALL look good signings Sinclair - Jury is out Tudgay - He's a forward Keith, leave him up front instead of defending corners Greening - Ok but not a long term solution Buzsaky - quality but commitment?? Its been a very down hill season.........the numerous failings have been the piss poor defending, piss poor marking, pissing about passing it round the back, not playing people in the correct positions, no pace playing the ball FORWARD, no plan B, no decent free kicks. All in all we are far off being a good Championship side........we are desperate for a win. Keith Hill needs to take a long hard look at the long term building of a team at Barnsley.
Nudge - I have to admire your positivity and optimism BUT you are in a minority of about one. If I could see any glimpse of hope in the set up we have, I would say let's keep together and continue......fact is I don't and it is getting more embarrasing by the game. It's a results-based business and Keith is just not getting the results.........so let's get somebody who can restore some pride and shore up the defence. GERRY TAGGART
The "jury's out" on Mido and Etuhu? Are you for real? Mido is fat as **** and Etuhu has had plenty of opportunity but he's just ****.
So what you're saying Nudge is that you want people to think for themselves and agree with you. Priceless.
I have to admire your positivity and optimism............. ...............just the gate keeper at the top of the cliff............trying to close the gate before more lemmings throw themselves off. I can see what Keith Hill and Flicker are trying to do.......but its going to take a bit longer to do it. Probably be next season when things have turned around. I just hope the club can keep in the Championship by then. Without a shed load of money to throw at the team, it takes time, this is what happens
Kennedy (at left back) ??????????????? Collins ????????????? Edwards ???????????? Silva ????????????? rooney ????????????
I truly believe that this current crop of players should be sat quite comfortable in mid table unfortunately I think it's Hill that's not quite up to managing in the championship,
