I posted earlier about Forest and Leicester how they pushed players up when on the attack. I watched closely the Man U and Arsenal today. It is obvious to me after our last match that our tactics are terrible. We have our best striker playing in corner on wing. We have him one twoing with Kennedy orPerkins etc. the ball is then put across and Pederson is on his own. No one at back post. When we attack we run up on one side and nobody runs into middle to support Pederson. He is playing as though he has got an highly infectious disease and nobody wants to get near him. We have to bring either fresh tactics or fresh faces. I am partially happy with defence, although I cannot wait for Ramage and Nyatanga to be pushing for a place. We in my mind have improved there although not perfect. We have two good strikers COG and Peds. So where are we weak, it is midfield. I would replace Fox, Melliss is out. So we need two new faces, and could replace some after 60 minutes to change it round if necessary Flicker needs to get attack minded and get goals, because they win matches. If we can get two goals then let the opposition worry about getting three. You do not see Van Persie playing in corner. If we do not change we will go down
I think there is a strong feeling now amongst many that a change must be make very quickly, I feel it's now just a case of when.
We have already brought new players in. Paddy IMO would be an ideal attacking midfielder, play him instead of Fox. RNL left wing, will track back and not afraid of having a shot. I can see why some of us want a new manager, but, and it's a big but, if we change manager, how long will he need to assess the squad and see what he wants to get rid of and keep? Options: get shut of Flicker now, before January to give the new guy a chance to get it sorted. Or, stick with Flicker and hope he gets it right between now and Xmas.
We also have some good players; the team is good enough to compete in this league but the tactics and formations are restricting us, particularly at home. It's boring, negative and predictable.
If the team is good enough to compete in this league then why, 14 weeks in are we not doing so? I'm afraid that's an indictment of the manager, even though he is a great bloke. My own view is that neither the current squad or the manager are good enough. And I'm sorry to have to say that, because I do believe they are trying their best. It's about where we want to be as a club, at the end of the day. Over to you, Ben and MoW.
Give Mickey Mellon a go, knows the players and couldn't do any worse surely? Might even do a Danny Wilson! ( tongue stuck firmly in cheek)
