What difference does it make? They murdered him. They're absolute scum bags and thankfully justice has been done. But whether they killed him because he was black or they didn't like his shoes or he was nobbing their cousin makes absolutely no difference. They did it, they're scum, they should be sent down for a long time.

Minimum sentence is affected by whether it's racially motivated amongst other things.

A bloke kills you 'cos you're white. He gets 15 years.

That's not right is it. It's the murder that's important, not the why.

It's punishing the racism, that's the whole point. It's saying a murder is worse and therefore deserves a longer sentence because you killed someone on basis of colour. Doesn't matter what colour is.

Why is it worse?

If they killed a white bloke that night 'cos he ran with a different gang or summat (hark at streetwise Jay), that would be better would it?

"Well lads, you killed someone, but at least it wasn't for racially motivated reasons, so it's not that bad."

same if a black bloke kills a white bloke for racist reasons. No discrimination at all, any race can kill another. If a black murderer and a white murderer both kill on racist grounds then both their sentences will be increased.
