When I was at school we had it drilled into us that we had to cover the posts at corners and we had to stay there until the ball was clear then we pushed out - there seems to be loads of goals going in near at the post from corners - the Vaz te one last night was a perfect example even the one they scored from the corner

We also allowed the ball to bounce in and around the box rather than meeting it early to clear or attempt to clear.

True - something else we had drilled into us!

Track your runners push out to close down the second ball out side the box and don't give anyone enough room to put the ball on a six pence.

It's a massive pet hate of mine, you should ALWAYS have both posts covered. When I play 11 aside I always go on the post, I must have saved at least 20 goals over the 10 years I've played.

Yeah, their third goal (which wasn't even a corner, it was a goal kick to us) should've been prevented. The lad ran 10 yards to meet the ball and then we all saw it fly into the bottom corner, with no one whatsoever on the posts. I always thought you stuck your smallest players on the posts (Butterfield/Perkins) and your big lads in the middle marking the attacking teams aerial threats...

    ..Obviously not.
