Battle of Barnsley - Worsbrough Bridge vs Shaw Lane Aquaforce

If you're not making the long trip to Bournemouth tomorrow, why not get yourselves down to Park Road, Worsbrough for the first ever encounter between Worsbrough Bridge FC and Shaw Lane Aquaforce FC in the NCEL.

Both teams have made a good start to the season and the game promises to be a belter!!

Kick off 7.45pm.

No-one said they were as good as Athersely Rec.

Athersley are in the league above now so they can't play each other.

 

Fair do,s pal but I didn't hear that phrase last season when rec played bridge ,that is all

 

I hear tell in non-league circles that Rec & Aquaforce are among the big spenders in the NCEL

 

I know rec players play for the shirt but aqua get paid .

 

There are more semi-pro's in the NCEL than people think (including the odd ex-Red or two!)

 

No one at Rec gets a penny! They in fact pay to play, subs etc

Who the chuff are Shaw Lane Aquaforce? Are they Barnsley's version of Total Network Solutions and who were they when they were a proper team?

 

Barugh FC I think, they were the team who played at Shaw Lane anyway, the Aquaforce guy has put quite a bit of money into the team.

EDIT: Just looked it up, they started off as Aquaforce, merged with Worsbrough Common and then merged with Barugh FC and became Shaw Lane Aquaforce.

 

Cheers mate. Played local football for donkeys years before retiring about 15 years ago. Never came across Shaw Lane Aquaforce but played against Worsbrough Common, Worsbrough Bridge, Athersley Rec, Barugh Green etc

 

I was told that the Aquaforce guy wanted to put his money into Athersley Rec but they would have to change their name so they told him to **** of and he went to Shaw Lane instead.

 

And the leaseholder of Rec's ground is none other than Geoff Horsfield.
