I know we were very very poor today. but ffs the highlights were a bit of a joke. i was never worried we would lose the game and it was quite boring. bbc made it look like Chester dominated the game
Was an even game. Two very **** teams playing conference standard football. They were a Conference side, away from home. Hence they deserved the victory.
They deserved the victory. I'm aware they didn't get it. But you asked why the BBC made it appear they were the dominant side. I think they made it look like that because they deserved to win.
You were never worried we'd lose the game"? Really? Only one team wanted to win that and they weren't wearing red.
bbc made it look like it was wave after wave of Chester attacks. Game wasn't like that at all, never at any point did I think Chester were gonna score any second.
So not even when they had a shot tipped onto the bar or 2 cleared off the line. Conversely at no point did I ever think we looked like scoring.
Think you're missing the point mate. The opposition having a few chances and someone thinking they're going to score are two different things. If your team is under sustained pressure you can't help thinking the opposition are going to score. Chester never put us under sustained pressure at any point in the game. At no point while I was watching the match on Sunday did I think, "Bloody hell, Chester are going to score in a minute." The chances you refer to were in isolation, not after Chester were camped in the final third of the pitch. Neither did I. Andytyke doesn't say he does either. But, like Chester, we had the chances to. Jennings fired just past the post, Hourihane was one on one with their keeper. Their keeper saved a long range effort and pushed it straight to Hemmings, but he fired over. You appear to have applied the idea that we didn't look like scoring despite having chances to our performance but not to Chester's.
Jesus have you seen that shot tipped onto the bar? I'd be more pissed off with the luck if it had gone in.
Personally I don't mind. I don't think the highlights do give a fair reflection of the game, but so what. We were rubbish, we didn't deserve to be made to look any better than we were. If the BBC want to show a conference side creating chances against a league club, I'm fine with that. They gave us plenty of good coverage when we beat Liverpool and Chelsea.
I thought Chester were going to score plenty of times and can feel a little unlucky not to have progressed. They created easily the most clear cut chances and embarrassed us by playing better football and looking easily the team most likely to score. Performances are getting worse every week and Wilson needs to do summat quick to halt the slide. Shocking display from us.
I'd just like to say that's the way we play every game. We usually give at least one goal away but we carry on in the expectation we will score one more than the opposition. I thought it was a good old fashioned cup tie, with end to end chances at either goalmouth. Our biggest worry is that every football manager and his dog will be able to see Craig Mahon, our left winger on the television next Tuesday night. We could lose him in the January transfer window. He was the best player on the pitch by a country mile. But he wouldn't do as well in a Barnsley shirt as we play a particular attacking style of football where everyone gets as far forward, as quickly as they can. I thought a lot of the Barnsley players didn't particularly look up for it and it showed in the end at the way they walked off. Chester fan
