So long as I don't have goons knocking at the door asking why I'm not paying for it, it has to be better than it is now.
Seems we have 2 up for commercialising and politicising one of the best media and drama producing institutions in the world. Hardly surprised at Xerxes though given his past political posts. Wonder if he has posters of Rupert Murdoch on his bedroom walls.
Why, are you happy for another ITV, type channel, with adverts constantly interrupting your viewing and crap news reporting.
It already is politicised, most would agree it's pretty left-wing, as for the best drama, that's American and has been for some time while the BBC comes up with soapy right-on rubbish like Cuffs and the dreadful Dr Who. Seriously though, does anyone believe that's what the BBC will be like in 10 years, think they must jave been smoking the funny stuff, and BTW Cameron isn't running for election in 2020, a fact they seem to have missed.
And another, Its often been accused of being left wing, usually by Tories,. Nick Robinson, Political Editor anyone Oxford Tories I believe.
The BBC is a sprawling monstrosity that needs some massive cutbacks. If you want to leave the website and the 24 hour news channel then fine. Should cost us about five quid a year at most afterwards.
Did you watch last night's coverage of the massacre in France, Sky News was far superior to the BBC's coverage, and not for the first time.
Or not right wing. But my point is, saying that something is 'left wing' or 'right wing' only makes sense from another position on the same spectrum, which in this case is one of liberal capitalism. My own interpretation would be that it's neither left wing nor right wing - it's just what it is.
So long as I don't keep getting asked why I'm not paying for it, it can be 24 hours of adverts for all I care.
