Yes

But water companies should then be forced to bring down the cost per unit.

To be honest as long as you dont use a hosepipe frequently or have more than 2 kids then you are mad not to have one.

    Yes - as long as...

You do not get charged for the installation of the meter. Why not pay for what you use? It will remove the disparity between someone who pays a flat fee and waters their lawn continually in summer or doesn't use water sensibly and those of us who have water meters and are careful about its use.

The question about whether the water prices are too high is another question!

no, cos i cant leave the tap running while i brush my teeth then.

and i wont flush the toilet to save money.

i would have to do washing up in used bath water.

    my life would be ruined.

I see no reason why they cannot be compulsory.

I heard some fool say on the radio earlier that that meters are a tax on the poor???

    Meter up I say!

Don’t forget that they have pay for the retrieval of the meter readings.

However, it would make more concious of the water wwe use.

    Yes

No point it not being compulsory as only low users would have the meters otherwise. The idea is to get people to use less water - if it was metered then people would be more inclined to think about how they use water - not sure it would stop the young un from leaving the bloody hot tap running in the bathroom though! RE: I see no reason why they cannot be compulsory.

Also heard another woman who said that people should have a choice - does she think then that the same should apply to electricity....have a flat rate you pay or, if you want, you can have a meter.

To hear her talk her kids would never be able to go in their paddling pool ever again!
