Whew. Now boring that was not. Sunny day at Oakwell with a great fight back after some dreadful defending. But who impressed?
Some dreadful defending in the first half pretty much ruled out the back four but some impressive midfield play and an energetic performance from McGoldrick who led the line excellently. Clearly was excellent when he came on but for me Phillips was very good and assisted the 2 goals so him
Looks sharp this season. Seems to be fully focused and a focused Adam is easily one of the best players in the division.
Phillips for me but I thought vimal was very good 1st hour and McGoldrick had a good game. But Phillips edged it.
Of the starters Phillips.and McGoldrick were the best 2 but what an impact sub Cleary was. Gone for Phillips.
Some stray passes from Vimal, but his work rate and energy is second to none. He tries some risky passes which I like. A toss up for me between Phillips & McGoldrick though. I've gone with McG because I love a last minute winner & he was superb in the air, holding up the ball, some of his footwork was excellent. He puts some footballers to shame considering he's 37!
Has to be McGoldrick for me, enjoyed watching him immensely and he deserved to get the winner! Runner up Yogonathan.
Just about Philips for me, but McGoldrick a very close second. Can't remember the last time I saw somebody that effortlessly classy playing for Barnsley - he was a joy to watch.
McGoldrick for me. Not only led the line and popped up with a deserved winner, but regularly dropped deep and tried to make things happen from midfield. That ball to Cleary late on was absolutely sublime. A proper Rolls-Royce of a player.
I've gone for Bland. When Phillips was announced though, my brother and I agreed on Bland, though he said he'd have gone for McGoldrick had he scored, which he duly did about a minute later. I thought Bland was outstanding though.
Didn't get to Oakwell or watch online (no broadband where we were in deepest Norfolk) so I didn't vote, but based on the highlights and the match stats, I would have gone for Phillips.
