    I Disagree

It's a shame so many think his outside interests overshadow his football career. I will always remember him as a football player and not one half of a showbiz couple.

    Are you having a laugh?

I've never seen anyone able to manipulate a ball like he can.

Had he looked like Wayne Rooney all anyone would talk about would be his football. Although he has many interests outside of football you'll be lucky to find anyone who has dedicated themselves to the club and country like Beckham has.

no i'm not having a laugh, have you really watched him ,he can't tackle, cant head a ball,he just runs about like a headless chicken, can't take anybody on and beat them,if i was an opposion manager i would tell my midfield player to stand on Beckham[not litteraly],then he's done ,all he would do was turn round and pass the ball back to Neville!,don't get me started on freekicks 100 games for England,he's taken every free kick in those games how many times has he scored 3or 4,how many times did Redfearn score direct from a free kick for the Reds?,all he does is hoof the ball forward if it finds the centre forward then john motson and hanson etc can't find enough superlatives 9 times out of 10 he hoofs it the defenders just head it back out ,the commentators never say a word, hence everybody thinks he just makes good passes.

    Unbelievable

I won't call you an idiot.

Beckham has played for 2 of the biggest club sides in the World for a majority of his career.

Completely dropped from the Madrid side, and training with the kids. Name me one other player that would pull his socks up and force his way back in, whilst being the single reason for winning the title. Could you imagine Terry, Lampard, Ronaldo et al doing that. Not a chance. To many medals in Man Utd career to mention.

You can have your opinion on Beckham, everyone does and has a right to. He puts himself and his brand in the shop window everyday. To say he is over rated and then list a load of BS about he footballing abilities is incorrect though. He's as gifted a footballer as Ive seen in my generation, and the fact he has the dedication to go with it means he will go down as one of the all time greats.

i never said he wasn't a good player, just vastly overated and hyped up along with most of the England players, for gods sake even odjob made john terry look poor, and be honest have you ever seen Beckham, take anyone on like jcr does ,have you ever seen him tackle anybody,he just jumps out of the way or bottles out like against brazil in the world cup and he can't head a ball and how many times have england scored from a corner he's sent over or free kick he's sent into the box in 100 games i bet you could count on one hand.

    Oh and.....

......if you were a manager you would just have someone to man mark him.

Jesus, you've got most of the top clubs in the world wondering why their manager didn't think about that. Or maybe, just maybe they did and it got them nowhere.

Oh, so its a team game now, and Beckham was playing to other people's strengths? Oh, so rather than being this world class midfielder I thought he was, he actually had enough tactical nounce to play to the strengths of the other 10 players.

Your having a laugh by arguing Beckham hasn't been a world class player for a majority of his career. He's still better than the the next best option - and do you know why? He's set the bar so high and he is irreplaceable for England. Wright Phillips cost a fortune and he will never be able to touch Beckham's ability, neither will Bentley.

He doesnt need to take anybody on because of the quality of his crosses, doest need to waste time getting to the byline when he can put in a pin point cross from deeper. Beckham's a class act, that performance against Greece was probably the best ive seen from an England player in my life (only 21).

    Gunna have to say

I think Beckham is totally and utterly overrated too. As mentioned, he cannot beat a man and for any great winger that's a must. He's obviously well known for his blistering free kicks, crosses etc. But how good at them is he? Not very! Now I always took free kicks when I played football, not saying I was as good, but, the first rule is, make the keeper work. 9 times out of 10 Beckham fails to do so. His corners are often overhit, and while his general crossing is good, only so when the defending is slack, as otherwise, he can't make any space for himself. Steven Gerrard is a much better cosser anyways and I can't see why he isn't over the ball for england. If I was a manager and offered a winger of my choice, Beckham would be way down the list.

Oh and I think you'll find, Madrid's sole aim in buying Beckham was to expand on their merchandise profits.
