I assume £128m includes any signing on fee........it is a 5 year deal worth £128m, it's the media that have then converted that to a weekly amount. I know that US sports stars have such high salaries but thats from the major sports, not sure how they can pay this amount. Oh and Beckham says it's "not about the money" - why is it when people say that they are invariably getting paid a fortune?! Surely £128m wasn't the first figure that LA Galaxy came up with so it must have been negotiated up by him and his agent. If it wasn't about the money then take £5m a year or something like that, or say that majority will be donated to charities. Wonder if we'll see loads of kids wearing LA Galaxy shirts now?

I think that he will take a lot of stick from some of the top players over there as they are receiving a fifth of what he is getting. Bet there's a few hefty tackles.
