Anyone know how to get rid of a bees nest? they are underground in the lawn scaring my little un to death. Anyone dealt with this before?
if you can see the entrance holes get some ant killer powder squirt it down the holes as the bees or wasps go in and out they carry the powder all round the nest and bump dead bee,s usualy no repeat i do wasps nest in the morning and collect the nest next morning and stright in to the freezer (fishing bait wasp grub)

get some borak harmless to humans but lower life kills, borak is what you use in soap for washing and they sell it most places.
Thanks, managed to get a local bee keeper to come round and remove them, apparently he smokes them out, without causing them harm, then has several nets to catch them as they come out, he will then take them home. Job done !!
All f.o.c. as well.

local bee keeper I keep bees, but am not local or would pop around and sort them. The local police will have a list of local bee keepers. They will sort out the problem. But most call outs tend to be for bumble bees or wasps Its a bit early in the year for wasps mind
Hot water and strong bleach does the trick, poured down the hole Mind you you'l kill em all in one fail swoop if thats what you want
RE: sure they're not wasps? They are bees, big buggers as well. I think the guy is from Cudworth, her indoors sorted it while dropping young un off at school this morning, cant imagine anyone i know in Shafton keeping bees, other than me for a few more hours hopefully
RE: sure they're not wasps? Soz, if they do, send em packing to Grimey or summat (not that theres owt wrong wi Grimey, i was born there) any way heres to sitting on the patio again, doing the natural thing....(pint) (pint) (pint)
Teach your young un not to be scared. Maybe catch a bee in a glass and let him/her watch it. Explain what they do, how they live, how they pollenate plants and all that carry on. We've had bees in the lawn for years, when they were little my daughter and her friends used to sit next to the hole and watch them come and go. It's far preferable to learn to live with nature rather than constantly battle against it.
I was thinking they sounded like bumblebees what with the size and living in the lawn. Do other bees live underground too? Bee keepers don't keep bumblebees do they?
