    Evening all
I've seen all the threads regarding kodi I was wondering if someone could explain all the pros and cons.
I currently have sky which costs me about £100 per month I like my sports and movies and American programs like greys anatomy, walking dead, supernatural etc, will I still be able to watch them through kodi?
Also will I need a new TV that will except it?
I've had a browse around the web but find all the info heavy going I basically need a which magazine type jargon buster to help me on my way.
    Cheers Mike

If you like watching live sport then forget it, its far too unreliable, yes u can get streams for games but they can quite often cut off. Normal tv can be the same and the tv guides can be unreliable. If you want to watch tv shows and movies then its slightly better. You don't need a new tv as it's either a small box that uses hdmi or u can use a Amazon Firestick. You can buy boxes that are fully loaded with all the links, however if you want to update the Kodi or put extra repositorys on then this can be a bit for fidly. I have Sky Q and yes it costs alot of money, i'm also a computer engineer so can work Kodi fairly well but i would never swap it to watch the footy as i like the Ultra HD too much. Hope this helps and i'm sure someone else may be able to chip in

Get chromecast for £30 and mobdro on phone, for me that's brilliant. There's also other apps like Terriaum TV which ya can show latest movies and TV shows(watch Supernatural via this) straight to TV via chromecast.

I'd personally disagree with most of that. You can get very good live TV and sports, through IPTV sub service. Boxsets and films are pretty much flawless, through addons like 123Movies and Exodus. Ivue and Mayfair are both very good tv guides which are maintained very well. Finally I would ditch any build that comes preinstalled.

I find it excellent for movies and frustrating for sport. A typical experience when trying to watch football, is having to find alternative streams several times during the game and missing big chunks of action while doing so.

I agree about sport. The streams can be a bit hit and miss with the surprising exception of Fulham V Barnsley recently which was very good (except the Paul Walker commentary).

I pay £37 for all of Sky channels, boxsets, sports, cinema, the lot. I've no idea about all these other bits if kit, but I think £37 is a fair price to pay and I'm happy with it. Something's wrong if you're paying £100/m, even though I assume that must include internet and phone...

I've got a kodi box, pain in the proverbial and I'm a software developer, I have no idea how a non-tecky type would get on with it. For example, a channel fails to work and it says something like "Check logs for more detail", you look in the log and it says "one or more channels has failed to load", as helpful as a chocolate fireguard.

HD is £10 per TV multi-room £10 per set, and £10 for PVR. That's £30 before you add any channels. When I had Sky, I had One HD box with PVR and one basic non-HD, I also had Sky broadband (free if you had sports) and I was paying over £100 a month (sports and movies). When I threatened to leave they offered me the same package for £85.

Are you sleeping with a Sky employee?

I was paying £4.50 a month for OTTTV which was fairly reliable. A month ago it just stopped working and their "support" was laughable. I tried reinstalling the addon with no joy. I managed to find a stream on my laptop on saturday and plugged that into the TV. It was just about ok.

I've ordered a Zgemma satellite box which I'm told is the best option. £125 on eBay with 500Gb hard drive and a 12 month "gift", whatever that is....

If your expecting Sky type quality on Kodi, you'll be disappointed. Not family friendly or reliable.

Your paying way too much for Sky. I currently get everything for £20 a month (HD, Movies, Sport, Box Set). They even gave me £100 credit. So actually £12 a month.

Before that I paid £25 for 12 month. Free box, free install (missus name) and before that 25 months at £25. Again, free box free install.
