Lots of interesting, if slightly aggressive discussion on here at the moment about if we should be nervous or not about tonight. Of course at three nil up we should be comfortable. But being a Barnsley fan is not about being comfortable. It feels so great when we are doing well, because we are not a massive club with millions spent of top players by some mega-rich Russian or Asian oligarch. We know what it’s like to be at the bottom. That’s why it feels so much better when we fight our way into the playoffs against the odds. I am looking forwards to celebrating this evening, knowing that it will feel that much more of an achievement, because I am still that bit nervous about the outcome. If tonight really is already done and dusted then the elation I am still crossing my fingers for would be pointless.
I remember Brian Clough's Derby beating Real Madrid 5-1 at the baseball ground. 120,000 there for return leg and Madrid won 5-0 History is littered with such come backs. If we do a professional enough job we should be fine. Even conceding an early goal is not the end of the world. And our away record is excellent.
I have every confidence in team & manager. Barring some bizarre refereeing decisions, we will get through.
I agree. Do not even think about the time recently when all we had to do was defend a 1 goal lead against a ten man goalie-less team. And didn't.
Get your point, but there were a few very talented players there, who knew scouts would be sniffing round, given their contracts were over. Moncur, etc ... they had no pressure on them & it was 1 goal, not 3... we'll do it. (Will still be shittin' it obviously, as I am a glass half full bloke).
This will not be a glass half full night. It'll be a glass full to the brim night. Gulp gulp. But hopefully not a glass through the telly screen night.
