I gave him abit of stick after the Orient game where I thought he had a nightmare and was at fault for maybe 3 out of 4 goals that day. But fair play was good at posh and 2nd half today made some terrific saves. Didn't know if his head would be down after Orient but keep it up.
I'd be quite surprised if we didn't. Pick up an injury in that position and we'd be extremely threadbare. Killip was excellent today but overall he's probably not quite up to it if we're aiming to progress. If we can turn the home form round while maintaining our away form then we're still well in the race for automatic. Got some supposed "easier" games coming up now. Can't afford to let the standards drop.
First choice should be a battle between Killip and Smith. Getting someone in to play 3rd choice is a tough sell. Replacing the keeper now, half way through a season is just going to disrupt our defence. IMO, we go with who we have plus an academy lad. If major injuries occur, we can still sign an emergency cover. You’re not going to get anyone decent in without the promise of starting - only someone like Wrexham’s Howard who might come in to bench warm - old veteran.
I think those who pre judged Kilip won't acknowledge that he is a good keeper and in the team on merit. In my opinion we should go with Kilip,Smith and Flavell as 3 rd choice.
He is. Played enough at Walsall and did ok at Grimsby. Also, he trains with the team daily - which offers more cohesion than a random January signing who doesn’t know anyone.
Agree. Not saying Killip is the long term answer, but his distribution and shot stopping abilities are enough for him to retain the no.1 spot for now.
I think he was bought as one for the future hence why we got the lad from Chelsea in as number one in the summer. Will have to see what happens I suppose the club will know who they want what positions etc.
Incredible stops and reflexes today from Ben, still worries me on crosses but take nothing away from him, deserves the shirt and its upto whoever to stake a claim
