I really hope we can sign him permanent in Jan. He reminds me of our old Brazilian number 15 in a way that he's ice cool on the ball, is always looking for the next pass and has those old samba skills. Not Ronaldo skills, the kind where it looks like the ball is stuck to his feet. Also he isn't afraid to put a tackle in. My definite man of the match and was chuffed when they announced that he'd got it. What a star.
Couple of times he got caugh on the ball but i think he can become a solid Championship player, i think also if he gets confidnce taking the ball forward taking players on he could become twice the player, he made a run as soon as the whistle went in the first half and skipped past 2-3 players. get that and some good long shots onto him and he could become a great box to box midfielder
Anderson De Silva, the 3rd most overrated member of BFC personnel since I've been watching us. Behind Hugo Colace and Mark Robins. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Colace was the most overrated player I've seen in my time watching Barnsley, even ahead of Hourihane. Mark Robins though was brilliant. Get him back now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hourihane's not over rated either for me. Colace was quality in his first two seasons. When Doyle get brought in it gave him the freedom to get forward & he scored over 10 in his second season. Can't think of another central midfielder who's done that for us who doesn't take set pieces
Ma I also add Pearson is another completely overrated midfielder, Bailey was a much better footballer. The thing that really turned me off Colace was the way he neshed every physical challenge, his passing was abysmal too and the season he scored 10 or whatever it was had the distinct feel of being a one off, as proved the case. Last year felt that way with Hourihane too. Doyle on the other hand, must be the most underrated player I've seen the club have in a long time. Not technically gifted but his positional sense and graft enabled others to prosper and steadily over time you could see he was adding bits to his game. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Agree about Pearson. I don't really see what others do. Bailey was as good but had a much tougher role with less protection around him. I expected Doyle to have a better career than he has done, maybe his off the field troubles have held him back
I dont see the big thing about Pearson. Had better players by far and will again. A typical modern day midfielder, seems to do nothing well just mediocre all round. Just my opinion and I readily accept I know naff all about modern football !
Anderson de Silva isn't strictly white, he's mixed race/latin as they say in US. So yeah, Pearson is the white Anderson. Another reason he reminds me of him is cos ge splits opinion. Half of the fans think he's a cool, talented deep lying playmaker; the other half prefer a Doyle style clogger who does "the work you can't see".
When I think of a deep lying playmaker I'm looking for a Xabi Alonso or late career Steven Gerrard/Paul Scholes type player who sits back and dictates the play. Pearson trots about playing sideways/backward passes and points his finger a lot. His passing is nothing more than your average league one player, for me all I see him as is a very poor mans Nicky Butt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Let's spend 5m on a proven Xabi Alonso type player then. Be realistic eh? He's a young player just starting out in his career. He's nowhere near his full potential yet. He'll learn with experience and that will come with game time. I'd hate for you lot to be youth coaches. They'd have to be playing like 'top half Championship' players at 16. Be patient, let him mature and learn
Not saying there was. What im saying is he wasnt a particularly technically gifted player, a lot like Pearson. He put hiself about a bit and shouted and thats about it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
