Looks to have a point to prove every time he's had some minutes. He's trying to do too much at the moment he's that desperate to play, but seems to have a bit of skill and, without question, he's the got the desire. You can see he's craving it. If he can stay fit he might be a real positive for us. Compare and contrast with Callum Styles.
Been playing well in the bits he's been seen this season. It's almost like he's out of contract at the end of this season.
In fairness I've rated him more often than not, just can't stay fit Hopefully this could be a new start for him
That's not what I see. I see a lad who really wants to play football and show what he can do after a horrible run of injuries.
Best player at the club for me. Just had horrific luck with injuries. Thing is, the only way he gets in is if DC moves Luca back into his old position. I wouldn't be against that. But let's see if he can remain fit first. And to be fair, he's a hell of a player to have in reserve at this level.
I can't remember how old you are Whitey... Do you remember Steve Davies? He was one of the fantastic six that Mel Machin signed one summer, but we hardly saw him for three years. When Danny finally got him fit he was one of the best centre halves I've ever seen play for us. He had everything. He was equally as good as De Zeeuw. Davies got injured again in the Prem promotion season at QPR, but that wasn't unlucky, lad who got him (forgetting his name right now) should have been in court for GBH. Point I'm making is you can come back from a string of injuries and perform heroically. The only positive from all that was it gave Adie Moses a run in the side who was brilliant.
Played well when he came on, hopefully he can keep fit , he has the ability to make our midfield stronger
I think he’s looked good this season, albeit very brief moments so far. I like him a lot and wish he could stay injury free for a decent amount of time. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, hopefully it’ll be now he can get fit and get a good run in the team because he can be a hell of a player at this level.
Agree if we stick with this formation, but a diamond midfield featuring Craig shielding, Luca and Benson box to box and Phillips behind the strikers would be an awesome midfield in League One. Only problem is I don't think we can play like that unless we have a better quality of full back who can both attack and defend with pace.
Agreed. Don't think you could ever doubt his effort, commitment or skill, just a shame he's as brittle as he is.
42, and feel older. I enjoyed my youth too much it seems. So yeah, I remember Steve. Him and Arjan had looked tidy the year before promotion, but looked even better with Appleby sweeping in 96/97. I forget who crocked him. Was it John Spencer? I hated QPR as a teenager. Always used to beat us, foul us or score ridiculous goals against us. Typical I only saw us beat them (twice) at Loftus Road when fans weren't allowed in. I actually commentated on the most recent win, and was regularly mocked by colleagues for sounding like I was describing snooker, rather than Mowatt scoring a great free-kick. I'm old skool. I prefer descriptive commentary, not this modern habit of screaming a player's name all the time. Anyway, I digress. I've met Steve a few times. He's doing a lot of academy coaching at Wolves, even had a caretaker manager stint there for a while. Big Wolves fan so it's good that he's ended up in a good place. Really nice bloke and thought a lot of his BFC years.
Steve Davies had a ropey start if I remember correctly as did most of Melvin's new signings Charlie Bishop apart...........sithi.
I think Earl could play left back, defensively. But you're right. I don't think any of Kyran, Barry or Corey would be ideal at right back. They're converted wingers let's be honest.
Aye, it was Spencer. Kudos. Best commentary I've ever heard, and I'm not blowing smoke up your harris, was yours Whitey. I thought it was brilliant. Laconic, ironic, world weary, it was what commentary should be. Made me smile the breadth of my face. I know you didn't like doing it but I thought it was mint.
