Yeah i saw it tonight, was a little unsure but really impressed and enjoyed it except it being £8 to see it!!
No i went to parkway as if they could afford 3D lol, and since when did hollywood ever stick to the origional story and not jaz it up a bit to make things more intersetin?
Having read the poem at junior school I wasn't expecting an intricate story-line. The changes made spiced it up a bit but the enjoyment came in the mind boggling 3D effect. It cost £1 extra for the glasses but otherwise was normal price. Well worth it.
Dont goto Cineworld in wakefield they are charging £2 extra each to see it in 3D, the special effects are good, me and the girlfriend both swayed to avoid a spear then turned and started laughing at each other!
Nearly wiped the blood of my face at one point and clenched when he nearly sat on that point. It was also a laugh watching the women round me trying to peer round obstructions in the foreground to catch a glimpse of Beowulfs "sword".
RE: It's not Celtic at all because if had anything to do with celtic there would have been child molesting in it.
So wrong The Anglo-Saxon Chronicles were a 'blog' of the Anglo-SAxon times, started by Alfred T. Great to chronicle what was going on in his kingdom, also good PR as he was often bigged up in them. Beowulf is a story that comes from Northern Europe - it is part of the history of the Saxons, Angles, Jutes and Danes and is supposed to have happened in their early history when Dragons, Trolls, Dwarves and Goblins walked the earth. The story was passed down by mouth through storytellers.
RE: So wrong Just been reading the wikipediasite about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beowulf. I had heard of the poem before but didn't realise its origins, later translated to old english.
I was reading the other day about Hengist and Horsa, Hengist who apears in the Beowulf poem was supposedly beheaded at conisbrough(Cunungeburc) by Eldol, although the truth is unclear, but the River Donhas always been a border between peoples so I suppose its quite possible. There is a place near sprotborough called Hengist rein where he or his horse is supposed to be burried.Itsan interesting periodin history, pity we don't know more factsabout the time. Most of the writings are either myth or legends, proberblywritenafter that period..
(Y)
