    Horse chestnuts???

I do hope not. They're poisonous.... now sweet chestnuts and you'd be talking... though to fully appreciate em you need sprouts and bacon

    Well okay then sweet chestnuts

We did have bacon and the rest of the family had sprouts, but I detest them . How can normally intelligent people lose their minds and eat this vegetable monstrosity??? (puke) (puke) (puke)

Cooked well they are a delicacy. Overdone & waterlogged I'd agree an abomination

    Lovely vegetable!

Why does it instil hatred in people though? I put it down to when they were kids they got given overcooked sprouts.

    It makes me laugh

When people say "You get too much turkey at Christmas, I just want a bit of beef."

Their logic fails me when they no doubt have beef for Sunday dinner for the full 52 weeks of the year but don't feel they get too much beef all year round.
