We've had some amazing dead ball specialists over the years, but I can't remember anyone who's been able to whip in crosses from open play as well as Cotter can, on a very consistent basis as well. Obviously it's early days yet, but I think he's going to be a huge player for us. Playing against ten men meant that he didn't have as many defensive responsibilities today, but if he could defend as well as the attacking part of his game, he'd be at a top end Championship club, if not higher. Not only that, he has genuine pace. I'm really looking forward to seeing how he develops over the season, and I'll be very surprised if he's with us next season if we don't go up.
I know, I'm being facetious. I should have made it clear that I was trying to recall BFC players who could cross a ball that well. Although if Chloe had played for us, she'd certainly be up there with Big Bad Barry in the crossing stakes!
If O'Keeffe's cross for Cole's opening goal against Port Vale is indicative of his usual standards, then we have three quality crossers of the ball at wing back.
Just to throw a spanner in the works I feel in first 5 games the amount of times we have cut into area to byline and cut back a poor ball as been far too much. This is an area that they defo need to work on in training
Agree that Cotter whips in some great crosses. He’s got 3 assists already. Best crosser of a ball in my time watching the Reds was Nicky Eaden.
Agreed about Devaney, his crosses were lethal. Wasn't Eaden good on the delivery too? Can't really think of any more. On the other hand, for all his talents, Hammill was frankly a sh!te crosser imho
