Dave was my cousin - top, top man - loved him to bits

And top DJ - although he banned me from going to a lot of his do's! Think he thought he was a bad influence!!

But always used to make me shake my head when he was called a Barnsley Fan in the Chronicle.

Tell me about it - I used to give him some right stick over it - especially when he got ill at the end and they did a piece on him and said they'd open the turnstiles to get him in - as if he would! Couldn't they see the bloody tats he had of red devils etc!

Still his dad had a season ticket at Barnsley when he was younger - oh and one at Wednesday but he defended that by saying everyone used to do that!

Miss both of them him and his dad! You could see where Dave got his sense of humour from when you talked to Butch!

He is a older than mer but have many a good night with him in Poggy club. Believe it or not we once went round town with him and lost him!!!! how can you lose a bloke his size

I remember seeing him in his shop one day

Me & some mates had had a drinking session with him the night before & he said that he was never drinking with us ever again! The reason he gave was that he was so hungover that morning that anyone could have come into the shop & robbed him & he wouldn't have known about it.

What he didn't know was that me & my mates had been equally hungover & had been questioning the wisdom of ever drinking with him again!

Top bloke & a real genuine character.

lol! When he bought that Harley although he fit on it better it just wasn't the same - never really got to use it either

yep he was - I spent many an hour listening to his stories at his mum and dads - one of the funniest people I've ever met - but like I said his dad was exactly the same. I loved time at Poggy with them - great times from my youth!!

He lived at top of our road.

One of the few people my mum took care to ring me and tell me when he died.

Once took me to Wigan without realising I was only 14. parental wrath from both sets ensued

hmm, sounds like our Dave! That little enclave at the top of your street was where I grew up - two brothers married two sisters - my grandparents and his parents - so he was my mum's cousin, my half cousin - but there was only us lot in the family so we were all really close. Especially brothers and sisters living next door.
Miss him, his mum and dad! (Although auntie Elsie could be a bit of a mare - don't no how Uncle Butch coped sometimes!)

 

Good place and time to grow up

Remember building carts and racing down Waddington Rd when very young and yep Bub just had to get on the wheels!

 

Once got stopped on pogie Road and was asked where Dave Butters lived

We said we have never heard of him, the bloke said you must have heard of him Bub. We just said wTF didnt you say Bub
