Need to get some ahead of my holidays. Where is the best place, with the best exchange rate / no commission?

    Cheers.

Best to ring round for daily rates but the Post Office and Marks and Spencer are usually good.

From my experience, Nationwide debit (or credit) card, including cash from ATM in destination country. Just get enough to get you there and then top up on arrival. We move all our money to France this way, unless you're moving a large amount, i.e. over 10k. Also safer as you're not carrying wads of cash.

Nice one. Never knew they did em. Cheers mate. Usually get them from Ilkeston Co-Op travel, but gonna have a good look around over the next few days.

What is a good current rate? Seems1.37 is best I have seen so far.

Don't know what a good rate is. Didn't realise it was that low.

    According to XE . . .

. . . current (commercial) rate is 1.445. We normally get within about half a euro cent of this on the Nationwide cards. Last transaction I put through I got 1.439 earlier this week when the rate was even lower than it is now.

    Oh, one more thing.

You could check the banks and bureaux at your destination. You might get your best rate there.
