    He's a good bloke.

Seems well up for it. Colgan was great at end of first half when he turned to crowd and asked for half time results; they clearly do care and it's good to see.

    Lucky to stop on!

He was clearly going to be booked and so when the ref called him over he thought it would be a good idea to march towards the ref chelping, then throw the ball away. A more churlish ref (Hudds away springs to mind) would have booked him for the challenge, then again for dissent.

He didn't get booked for a challenge..

He didn't make a challenge. The whole incident was his dissent because the referee made a ridiculous advantage decision and then gave a goal kick when the ball rolled out of play. The only way he could have been booked twice is if both were for dissent.

However, his reaction at full time when the players came back out was superb. They let Hassell go on first, and then Hassell motioned and Howard came dancing out with a big grin on his face- top man.

    Oops

I'd forgotten what he was being booked for, but certainly the ref had already got his cards out of his pocket when he decided to throw the ball away. I was just sat urging him to shut up and take his booking before he talked himself into more trouble.

At the end and through the game - as he has done many times this season - he was the guy urging the fans to raise the volume. He certainly seems to care and want to do well with Barnsley. Somehow, it's always these types of players - the "heart on their sleeve" variety - that lose their composure under pressure. Let's hope not this time.

    I find it amazing that..

the Swindon fans said his problem was "not caring" and a poor attitude.

Howard is one of those rare types of players who not only wears his heart on his sleeve but also has genuine quality to match. Compare this to players of a couple of seasons ago such as Gary Jones and Alex Neil who were genuinely committed players but sadly lacked ability. It just demonstrates the improvements weve made to the squad last couple of seasons really.

How could anyone get passionate about Swindon; the fans there wear Chelsea shirts, etc, to the matches; if they don't really care you can understand the players not caring either!

agreed..... but just shows how muc it meant.

Howard was brilliant. I too wanted him to shut up, but he was toatlly right with the ref..... His face when he cam out after the game, and him leading the "Easy Easy" chants will remain with me forever.

I can forgive players for their passion, just can't forgive those who don't care. Howard seems to really care and every ball did count yesterday.

    Swindon Town Supporter

I would just like to point out that i am a dedicated Swindon Town supporter. And since when have you seen us supporters wear Chelsea shirts. Most of us don't like Chelsea. And if you think were bothered about going down think again. I bet we've made more noise for our team than you have all season for your team. We've have the loudest voices in the league.
However, what have we ever done to annoy you. You're one end of the country we're the other.
I'm proud to be a Swindon Town supporter the same as your proud to be a Barnsley supporter. Don't criticise us when we are just supporting our team.:((
