Agree with comment in the Guardian ... Matt Phillips was unplayable on Boxing Day http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/jan/09/five-things-learned-this-weekend-fa-cup Matt Phillips is going places Having lost Charlie Adam to Liverpool last summer, the last thing Blackpool need is more big clubs eyeing their best players. However a hat-trick in the third round of the FA Cup – even if it was against Fleetwood Town – is no way to maintain a low profile, and merely confirmed Matt Phillips's status as one of the most exciting young players in the Championship. Following on from his Boxing Day hat-trick against Barnsley in the league, the 20-year-old is starting to build a reputation for himself, which perhaps is not too surprising for a player who scored his first ever Premier League goal two minutes into his Blackpool debut last season. Ian Holloway would be reluctant to sell his exciting attacker but there are a few teams in the top division who could do worse than move for Phillips this month. JS
Re: Vaz Te Phillips is a good shout, as is Jay's Vaz Te. I thought Danny Graham looked pretty impressive on Saturday too.
Matt Phillips? I honestly didn't think he played that well against us. He scored a very fortuitous hat-trick. The first goal was one that Steele got his hand to and should've saved. The second was a cross that somehow managed to find it's way into the net and the third was the penalty. Fair play, he did play well and got himself in the positions to score, but I don't think he was unplayable.
I'd agree with Matt Phillips too. A stand out player in the best side I've seen at Oakwell this season.
I'd agree, but I wouldn't say he was Blackpool's best striker that day He didn't score but I think Lomana Lua Lua ran us raggid that day. Phillips scored the hat-trick, but Lua Lua did the donkey work. They looked less deadly when he went off.
Viva Ricardo - by a country mile. In the last 9 games at Oakwell he's scored 12 goals, including a hat-trick and a brace on two occasions.
