good team i would say this biggest thing they have in their favor is that they all graft as a team, where most sunday league teams rely on 1 or 2 players! Saying that Corner Pocket made them look ordinary in the Wath Cup final last year!
Yeah, but they now play for Telstar. Any of you lot play in the 5 a side league at dearne valley college on an evening? Corner Pocket had a team in that as well who were pretty good.
Knew that was coming ... ... I said to the big centre half. The Queen Boys are in town ... nar nar nar nar nar nar nar nar etc. Watched a few Saturday & Sunday games this season. I've come to the conclusion that local league is now for bummers. A fair few of the Sunday players weren't good enough to play on Saturday ... so you got your old boys, rubbish young un's & semi-pissed buffoons running about trying to work out what the white round thing was. These days it's full of skinny young lads with silly haircuts. They couldn't have a 38 man brawl over a corner kick if they're lives depended on it. Pah.
RE: Knew that was coming ... A few last year took themselves way too seriously. Trying to be footballers rather than playing football.
RE: good team - Wath Red went school with a few of them or most were a few years older or younger. jamie williams is a good laker, as is ryan beadling, brett davis is good a center back considering he is not the tallest has good positional sense! To be fair the best sunday league team i've seen was either the dearne with phil taylor or the queens when between beefy, smithy and guesty they scored 140 goals or something silly!
RE: good team - Wath Red Brett Davies - Went to school with him the 1st year at Wath Comp, was abit light weight back then. Also know Phil Taylor, and he was a great prospect. Think he's got bad knees though which is a shame. Another good player from the Dearne was 'Stanny!? Only about 21, but he made the midfield tick. Plays for Pigeon club now along with Gav Bassinder.</p>
