Its a shame it takes something like this. You are probably right though. Should certainly focus their minds.
Getting tonked 4-0 by Norwich is hardly likely to make any prospective new striker think "ooh yes I'll join that on- the-rise confident lot down at the 'well". It's more likely to make 'em think "mmm don't fancy Div 1 football next season".
We need at least 4 new players this week before the ipswich game, i don't mind of a couple of them turn out to be bad buys, because its getting to that stage that we need to gamble on some players, even if it means signing from league 1, (not league 2 please).
RE: ??? How will a 4 - 0 tonking attract top class players We all know our strikers just can't produce at this level, if they had produce today Davey may have been in two minds to push the boat out and sign the striker we need.
Agreed! Personally I'm happy with SD. I reckon it will help his case to bring players in! I feel we have a talented first eleven, but lack strength in depth. In my opinion we need another four players as follows: 1 x Defender e.g. Dean Lewington (MK Dons), Andy Wilkinson (Stoke), Adam Barrett (Southend) 1 x Midfielder e.g. Jeff Hughes (Bristol Rovers), Mark Yeates (Colchester), Simon Hackney (Carlisle) 2 x strikers (Target man / goalscorer) e.g. Chris Porter (Motherwell), Rickie Lambert (Bristol Rovers), Celab Folan (Hull possible loan), Simon Cox (Swindon)
