I start work at Elmhirst High in September. Which route will be best for me? -Wakefield rd, past the Golf course, up Harbor Hill, left at Alhambra roundabout and down Sheff rd. Or M1 to j37 (I think), past polar ford, right at Alhambra roundaout onto sheff rd. There's barely a mile in it, but which will be quickest on a weekday morning?
Best way for your sanity would be the M1 but don't come off at J37, just get as far away as possible!
From next year it will be an academy with academy funding etc. Hence them getting all the proper bo teachers like me in. The new site will not be built for a few years though.
I'd go.....M1 to J37, turn right at Dodworth Road lights onto Broadway, right at Bush Inn round back of Locke Park and get that way.
RE: Durkar in Wakey Straight down M1 imho if you're coming into town at rush hour. Cos from Scorah's down to Wickes and up Harborough Hills will be a nightmare.
M1 to 37, turn right off Doduth Road onto Broadway, right again at Bush Inn round t' back o' t' Park, straight across Ward Green and Cutting Edge crossroads, follow thi nose.
and if it's bad on Dodworth Road then go into Dodworth and take the back roads back out either up to Kingstone or the longer way road past the deer farm and wigfield farm
Congratulations ! You got the job.
I would try;
M1 to J38
Drive to the Redbrook Roundabout and go up Redbrooke Hill.
Turn Right up Intake lane, up to the end and turn Right again at the Tommy Treddlehoyle into Pogmoor road.
Straight across at the broadway lights to the Bush Inn and turn right, down through Ward green to the Cutting Edge lights.
Straight across onto Bank End Road, left at the end (where the Dalesman was) and turn right into Elmhirst School.

Forget all directions said - just do this... Come off at J36 Birdwell, drive down into Worsbrough and turn right at bottom of hill (accross from Worsbrough Bridge Pitch). Then head 1 mile up the road, and Elmhirst is on the right-hand-side. Time from J36 to Elmhirst should only be 5-10 mins tops (and that is rush-hour!) M1 wise at that time, with the directions you're going, thet'll not be much traffic at all, it's all on the opposite side to you at them times! So I would imagine from J38 to to Elmshirst will not take any more than 25-30mins tops. Reason I say this, is i've used to do this route for quite a long time, but not to the school.
Slight problem It's a decent way BUT J36 southbound becomes a bit chocca at around 8-8.30. Traffic is sometimes banking back up the M1.
Otherwise - yes.

RE: Slight problem Should be ok between 7:45 - 8:20am. It starts to back up usually just after J36 anyway. If he's to be at school for 8:30am, then this way will be fine, as he'll be at J36 for about 8:20am. Go any further past J36, and there can be problems.
