Of course the totally unimpartial side of me would say the Barnsley accent being the best (as long as it is not punctuated with put on 'thi' and 'tha' every other sentence). The worst? Leeds voices whine a lot - Hull sounds a tad camp...............but my vote goes to that awful Sheffield sound.....particularly the ones who say rooooighhtttttttttttttttttttttt (right) afer every bleeding sentence.

Best accent nationally? - South West Country. Lovely slow warm inoffensive accent. Worst? Whilst the Brummie is depressing the Scouse one leaves you covered in spit so it would have to be Liverpool for me.

Perhaps this is worthy of a poll (no silly, not a polish accent but a voting system to record worst/best accent). Sadly, my IT skills are limited so I will miss that one.

Well Kendray/Worsborough accent sounds common as muck, then I cant really distinguish if people come from Athersley, Smithies, New Lodge, Cudworth, Shafton Brierly, Grimey from each other, Royston accent and the rounded vowels get on my nerves, then the whole Thurnscoe Goldthorpe accent is a lil bit different although common sounds lil more audible to outsiders. Think the clearest Barnsley accent is prob Barnsley West area.

On the whole think Donny have worst South Yorkshire accent, sounds really slack!

The Donny accent seems tinged with a Grimsby drawl. Adds more weight to the argument they are really just a set of Pikey's. They seem to pronouce Rovers 'Rewvers'........slack definately.

As mentioned, I think the Barnsley accent whilst not being the best in the UK is by no means the worst....and sounds very honest and down to earth, particulary if the broad - and sometimes unneccessarily emphasised words like 'Schooil' (School) 'Taycher' (Teacher) etc etc are pronounced more accurately.

Donny very drawling rounded vowels. Very different to a Barnsley accent to say so near to us. It sounds crap to me I'd rather sound like a Kendrayite with mi schooils and stuff!

But what is a 'Barnsley' accent? Cos I mean there definite distinguishable accents within Barnsley.

I couldn't narrow them down to individual villages and areas though. I always remember when the police were hunting for Michael Sams. They had a voice expert to assess his voice from a phone recording. She said he was from either Grimethorpe or this place up the North East!!! Biggest load of crap ever as if you can narrow an accent to an individual village like Grimethorpe!!! I mean how would you differentiate somebody from Shafton and somebody from Grimethorpe by accent? Expert my arse!

Yer say that, but I am from Hemsworth and I had mates from South Hiendley and South Kirkby who had noticeably different accents and even some words. A children's playground to me was a park, but if you were from SK it was t'rec. An Ackworth accent is different as well. They laiked school rather than playing chuck! Having said that, I have lived down south too long now and struggle to even tell t'difference between a South Yorkshire accent and a West Yorkshire accent.

Worst got to be a tie between dee dah and rovrum - Little known fact the Rotherham accent contains no A - Mors Bor. Bornsley. Cor Pork.
I'd agree with Leeds tho, they sound like wannabe Mancs.
