Just noted that the FFP rules don't come into full force until 2015. Working towards the full FL implementation date, there are another three full seasons where clubs will be able to run loss-making situations, and where BFC will be in competition with such clubs. I'm not saying that a solvency situation isn't a good thing to aim for - it is. But if our competitiors are able to steal a march on us in these three seasons we may find ourselves a league lower by the time everyone has to comply. We will then find it hard to get back up due to the fan base reducing in consequence of the downgrading of the team and the reduction in entertainment value. Clearly, PC has the right to do whatever he wants with the club. But in embarking on this course three years too early, and by downgrading the club's ambition, communication with fans, and value for money offered, I would argue he has taken a massive risk with his investment in the club.
Astonishing. Why do so many fans (not just ours) expect club owners to pump millions of their own money into clubs to keep them afloat? Being solvent is the only solution, not an ideal solution.
As I said, DWLC, "Clearly, PC has the right to do whatever he wants with the club." If you buy/own a club then unless you're an Abramovich or a Sheikh Mansour, you presumably would ideally like that investment to prosper, or at least not lose too much of its value. I don't think PC is mega-rich, by football standards, and no - I don't expect him to pump millions in. All I'm saying is that I think our current 'super-scrimpers' stance at the moment is a mistaken one in terms of where its taking the club. I don't expect marquee signings, but it would be good to see some sort of effort made to retain the more promising players. There may not be too much you can do in regard to Hammill or Vaz Te, or maybe even Butterfield. But to ditch Shackell (regardless of how well he has done since) was not a good sign. What's going to happen with Steele, Hassell and Foster? A stated policy to "realise saleable assets" will trash the fan base, in my view.
If a player wants to leave, genuinely wants to leave, theres not that much you can do though is there? You miss out on a fee altogether if you dig your heels in and have a player thats not motivated and doesn't want to contribute and can maybe sour the dressing room. And it's not super scrimping, it's just being sensible. A player on £8k a week is £416,000 a year basic. Thats an awful lot of season tickets!
i for one am glad we aren't chasing the dream... sure if we got some sort of rich arab throwing his cash at us we wouldn't mind... but neither did Portsmouth so lets be careful what we wish for! http://www.financialfairplay.co.uk
You been sniffing your gurts knickers again. Cryne doesn't have a bottomless pit of cash. He has used his own riches rather than generate loans secured on future incomes. There is nothing wrong in his business plan of building a self sustainable football club. Fair enough it's a medium to long term strategy but when you consider the alternatives .
Yes DT, but a self sustainable football club in which division? Anyway, I've had a word with our Gert but she says it's a bit early!
I think that clubs have to have had at least one season where their operations are not running at a loss before the start of the 2015 season meaning that we should probably have had 2-3 seasons not making a loss by then meaning we will not be targeted or watched very closely!
We have to look at different ways of creating our own revenue and what would help, what would really help is if more of our stay away fans came back and started investing in their club.
It seems that paying for Sky sports subsciptions is fueling the fire. If everybody cancelled, football would be in the 5hit. I dont have Sky, i would prefer to put the money towards my season ticket.
i love the fact that people who choose not to contribute to the bfc coffers can continously knock the club for trying to stay afloat, go ask portsmouth fans if they would prefer a solvent club rather than 1 that chased the dream and will possibly still end up in league 1. As for your "reduction in entertainment value" quote, says who ?, you who doesnt go ? yes january, febuary has been dissapointing but you wont get 2 many saying that august to the end december was "reduction in entertainment value" quite probably the opposite, but then you would know that, right ?
I presume you meant to reply to Orsenkaht. It annoys me too, its all about opinion but people who moan about lack of investment and ambition yet dont even pay their money and go to games should take a long hard look at themselves.
Apart from working towards the self sustainability, PC is also looking to move on. Better chance of of a buyer coming in if the new owner hasn't to invest millions just to stay afloat.
Same post as last month And the one before. And the one before that. We're not conforming to any financial fair play rules. We haven't got access to any other sources of money. We are simply spending what we've got. We have no other choice. What is so hard to understand about that? Why do you have to be told on a monthly basis?
Re: Same post as last month Correct Jay. The club have alluded to FFP as being the driver behind our very own austerity drive if you like, but the simple fact is that we have to stop relying on PC. What is wrong is people believing that we will have some kind of advantage by doing this early. We won't as, in my opinion, the FFP rules planned by the FL are still a blueprint for loss making. Which is clearly not avaialble to us any longer.
Re: Same post as last month Terminal stupidity, an immature outlook and an overwhelming sense of entitlement - that's why he has to be reminded every month. It's prevalent in Wath & West melton too.
