What a f**king joke. Whoever owns that franchise must spend their weekends swanning round Ferrari dealerships wondering which car to buy next. £1.60 for a cup of tea? It's about time the club took the catering back in house so that at the very least, any profits got pushed back into the club. McDonalds can afford to provide a decent burger, chips, and a drink for three quid, whilst in Oakwell you can get a burger that probably cost 4p inside a dodgy bun. It doen't help that my mate owns a catering wholesale company and he delights in telling me how cheap the food is and what's in it.
Most football grounds are expensive becuase they've got you Bit like motorway service stations! Not defending it but it seems to be the way of things
1.90 for a bottle of coke/fanta. They can **** the 20 pence increase up their arse. Next time i'll take my own. At least mine has a top.
absolutely agree the problem with this situation is that the club are probably selling off the rights to an absolute goldmine for peanuts
I went to a wedding at Oakwell afew weeks ago. In the Legends they serve Carlsberg Export not shitty Fosters at 20p a pint cheaper because the Catering Company in the Legends suite is different to the 1's in the stands
5 years ago, when I finished working was working for the largest catering suppiers in the country, Bovril came in cups, packed in sleeves of 12, 24 sleeves to a box, wholesale cost 4p per cup. And we suplied to most teams in the league just thoght I'g tell you the margins like
Is it me ? you can buy a pie(if you wish) for probably a quid and take it to the ground to eat or you can buy one at the ground for £2.50 and moan like **** ? It is an option.
take a flask then in the small print rules it does say they are not allowed , well someone said so. But I have never ever been stopped taking in a flask and some grub. Never ever baulked when asked to be searched either and always shown them clearly the flask and grub etc, and as I say never ever been refused entry with it.
RE: they get away with because you cannot go outside and get one off a vendor etc nt i know you can take in your own food no questions asked... i didnt state my full arguement.. at half time you cannot leave the ground and regain entry to get a burger etc of the competition vendors outside the ground, I havent moaned as I havent purchased anything I just stated the basic economics of the situation.
never seen it as a problem i can manage 2hours without food and a drink and as people say you can always take something in with you!
RE: take a flask then It does say no flasks, however, as a steward we are advised only hipflasks are not allowed
