I remember them being posted on the old forum, what kind of debt/profit are we looking at each year? People quote the £2-£3 million PC puts in each season but l thought that amount was only for one or two seasons? The Don came out and said we made a profit during the FA Cup run season and l'm sure l've heard in his interviews that in other season's we have only had slight losses, not in the tune of £2-£3 million each year. This year Keith has cut the wage bill, sold the club captain for a £1 million and highest earner, sold the clubs topscorer for a "substantial" six figure fee and was set to cash in on the new club captain until he got injured. This season we have also seen a rise in ST prices from 4.8%-5.3% for renewals, 9.6%-10.4% for new ST holders and an increase in day admission prices CAT A 20%, CAT B & CAT C 4.5%-6.6%. Season ticket sales fell by 20% and at present the average crowd has fallen by 12%. So how much money do we have to generate through player sales each season to break even with 10,500-11,000 crowds at the current prices? I wish the Don would come out and give the fans a clue because a lot are miffed. I don't like a lot about Donny Rovers but l do like how honest John Ryan is with their supporters, recently coming out and giving them figures about the past two season's losses, it kind of dampens the blow for them if like us they have to sell their top scorer (albeit they got at least £1.8 million for him) but after telling their fans they had a shortfall of something like £5.2 million many of their fans understand that they had to sell. All we get is a manager saying he's disappointed with the fee and The Don saying it was a good deal and telling a select few journalists. We are asking you to disclose every single transfer fee Don but maybe a "we have a shortfall of ???? amount this season so we had to cash in on x amount of players" could save a lot of flack being aimed towards you.
Quick comment... in 2008 the club made a £3.8m profit but this only occurred because Mr Cryne wrote off loans and interest of approx £4m.
Rowing said early on in the season we were on course to break even for a second season running without Patrick putting his own money in. It was said on Radio Sheffield when he was explaining the budget decrease and going on about these new rules that still haven't been given the go ahead. It probably explains why Cryne's wealth went up two million in the past year if he's not bankrolling us anymore and we've become self suficent (which is great).
This is our sixth season back at this level, have we any idea of the other season's, the accounts were available for public viewing weren't they?
So I take it a few of you think Rowing was lying when he said what he said? He's made it clear again...... http://www.barnsley-chronicle.co.uk/sport/article/4907/rowing-sometimes-we-have-to-sell "Barnsley Football Club is managed properly and is self-sustainable" "We work within the turnover we generate" Not sure how many more times Rowing has to make it clear that we don't rely on Patrick Cryne anymore.
"The more fans we get down to Oakwell...." Would be a good idea for the club this coming summer to really push the ST's this year if he's wanting the stayaway fans to come back, rather than the few adverts in local media they do, with the management duo they have got in and the football they are playing it seems we could finish in quite a good position this year and a great opportunity to tap into the stayaway fans. We last had a decent marketing campaign for ST's when we started the free U12's and we broke the 10,000 ST mark for the first time since the 2001/02 season. If the club are hoping to move to the next level they need the +10,000 home fans back and more. Don said we trail behind other clubs off the field.. http://www.swfc.co.uk/page/SeasonTickets/0,,10304~2575754,00.html http://www.leedsunited.com/page/SeasonTickets/0,,10273,00.html http://www.cpfc.co.uk/page/MatchTicketInformation/0,,10323~2526849,00.html http://www.canaries.co.uk/page/SeasonTickets http://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10335~2594073,00.html
Good post. We should be looking at getting season tickets on sale ASAP, but will probably not hear anything until April.
